The Bank of England is printing money, which will lead to inflation.
From reading the detail, it would seem that most of it is coming from already allocated funds, so effectively no new money, just ensuring that the local Tory MP gets a boost when the next election comes around.
Personally not sure this strategy has been that well thought out, more housing in town centres next to increased entertainment venues. I can already see noise complaints increasing.

Yes. This is a good article about just how dodgy the selection process was. In effect, civil servants developed a methodology to access which towns needed the magic money tree the most, it was then pulled to pieces by the Tories to ensure their consistencies got the vast bulk of the funding.

It's worth pointing out that Caulfield is as thick as mince. I was lucky enough to attend a q & a she did at 6th form in her constituency where the 6th formers ran rings around her and at one point she rather embarassingly tried to explain them what a budget was as if they were primary school children who had never heard of a budget before.
