I can't find the original thread on this, but a few seasons ago, just after we reached the promised land of the Premier League, we were very interested in signing Thomas Delaney.

Along with all of his fellow Danes, l thought he had a great game last night, and put in one heck of a shift anchoring the Danish midfield. Not a player who would interest us nowadays of course for various reasons, but l do wonder how he would have made out in an Albion shirt had we signed him back then. I really rate him.

The one I’d want and I’ve liked him since his Ajax days would be kasper dolberg

Yes another good player. I think that several of them have put themselves in the shop window now, and maybe we'll see one or two more, joining their fellow Danes already playing their football, in the Premier League this coming season.

Dolberg not done enough outside of this tournament to be of interest.

Delaney is a world class level player now we'll out of our league

Sadly for him he's tipped over into the palace age bracket, who I'm sure would be interested.

That means not only is he unavailable for the Albion, he's now potentially a source of ridicule for some here, until such time as they rob another 3 points from us.

Thomas Delaney is great, if he had left FC Köpenhamn a few years earlier he would be playing in a really big club by now.

Don't forget they'll all have been playing out of their skins last night. There will be some bang average players who've had a good game at this tournament and people will rave about them. The odd one will get a transfer to Palace too and then resume normal service.

Yes probably, too old for us now at nearly 30 anyway, d be an issue. plus of course having just signed Mwepe, we are already well stocked in midfield.

Delaney has been class for years, would have been an unbelievable signing for us at the time. That ship has sailed now though.

Indeed, l remember there was an awful lot of talk about it on here at the time. How close it actually came to fruition l guess we'll never know.

I thought he turned us down? Solid player. Not great on the ball but very energetic. I don’t know how he managed to avoid a yellow card last night as he made 4 or 5 cynical fouls.

Agreed, the Dutch referee was lenient right across the park last night. Apart for the booking given to Slabhead perhaps.

Dortmund are, by any measure, one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Big club, yes. Fair enough. One of the biggest, not really. The reason why it is hard to imagine Håland playing there in five years is because there's a set of bigger clubs.

I'm not sure there are many bigger clubs. Clubs more willing to pay him a mental contract, agreed. Chelsea would bend over backwards for him without any question at all but they're not a bigger club than Dortmund just because they have a rich owner and don't care about financial sustainability.

Surely you’re conflating big clubs and wealthy clubs which are entirely different things.

So whats the dictionary definition of a big club? Dortmund got 800 employees, Chelsea 2000+. Chelsea got two titles in Europe, Dortmund one. Sure, Westfalenstadion is gigantic but is that all that matters? In that case April 25 from North Korea and Michigan Wolverines from USA are the two biggest clubs in the world.

"Big" is very hard to define when it comes to the size of football clubs.
