Indeed, however last evening concerns were raised with regards to the elderly/the very young and mastery of such tech.

Multi-loading and more turnstile help will be the answer.

yep. Club fielded that feedback back in March too. Jenny Gower, the club's head of ticketing went on Albion Roar in early April (and there was a lot of other comms then too specifically about non smartphone ticketholders) and discussed those issues. https://audioboom.com/posts/7841562...2021-with-guests-dave-beckett-and-jenny-gower

The problem with things like this, is that they don't know what the person will ask/how much they will ramble. I'm sure if they invited questions beforehand, they could pick decent ones and PB would not have to spend so long explaining what Percy Tau is and fielding questions on whether someone should upgrade their iPhone... and of course, the quality/usefulness of the forum is down to what they are asked. Obviously there are some things they can't discuss (who the transfer targets are, for example). It does reinforce the patience that PB has! I can only imagine some of the bizarre emails he must get each week...

Does anyone know if the fans forum will be repeated at any point please?
I missed this one and it is actually a very important one, typical.:lolol:
I want to hear about the smartphone tickets in particular if anyone taped it.

Still amazed that the club haven't shown a video of it yet.

But I'm also amazed they haven't told us if Izquierdo is leaving or not either.

Perhaps their media team is off on holiday.

They did invite questions beforehand, but if they hadn't taken questions from the floor it would have been a very short audio.

I know they are doing it, but yet to understand how it works at the moment:down:

You wouldn't BELIEVE how much shit you have to load on your phone (Googlepay for one) and how many permissions you have to give (permissions from your bank to use Googlepay for one) and how many options you have to set (Phone locking to be able to use Googlepay for one) for the damn thing to actually hang together. Pretty sure I'm not THAT much of a luddite, but felt distinctly uneasy at being coerced into jumping through all those bollocksy hoops - let alone the completely understandable covid hoops - before I could attend the Man City game. Strongly suspect many will give up mid-hoops. Strongly suspect also that the club will have an unpublicised Plan B for those that refuse to hoop-jump. Cos there's practically NO businesses that will turn away otherwise willing customers on account of aforesaid customers not being switched-on hipsters who live or die by their phone

In summary: if you strongly object to all that cash-free bolleaux that makes life far easier for the club and far more difficult for the 'customer' (in many cases) then just call up Customer Services and ask the simple question: 'Do you want my money or not?'. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the response

Did he really get asked that?
Christ, Barbs must have the patience of a Saint. If I'd been asked that I would have suggested the questioner stick their iphone up their arse. Which to be fair is why I am not CEO and Deputy Chairman of the club and if I was, probably wouldn't be for very long.

I always imagine the kind of fans at Fans Forum to be the same kind of W-L fans that used to phone in to Lenny Rider's post-match phone-in. Would invariably include Geoff from Haywards Heath who would burble on about some random old shit or other til his yapping-in-the-background Jack Russell 'Nipper' cut the conversation short by leaping up and nipping his master sharply in the scrotum. Hurrah!

Yup! He kept on asking though, which was the amusingly infuriating thing. He asked if he could take it to the club shop so they could test it there...

Can't be arsed to read the whole thing but was that that time in (link sez) 2005 that me and some other guy got accused of being best mates with Bill Archer because we dared suggest the phone-in was just a tiny wee bit shite? Or was that some other time?

That’s the one. I think that phone-in was quite unique.

switched-on hipsters who live or die by their phone

Ha ! The idea that people that have a phone and take it everywhere are somehow "switched on hipsters" is pushing it a bit.
Phone usage is pretty much universal and thus idea that moving to mobile ticketing makes sense in post Covid world
In 2020 99% of u55s have a phone, 95% of 55-64s, 89% of 65-74s. Its pretty much universal.
Yes - there'll be a plan B for perhaps my 84 year old refusenik father but i doubt most fans will need it or indeed care.

Pretty sure you are misjudging the profile of the Amex fanbase tbh. Having every damn thing linked to your phone might end up being the default many years down the line. But not now, or anytime soon
