Algendly the poor monkey was a mascot, lately though the local authorities are trying to discredit the legend and say the incident occurred further along the coast in the Newcastle area.
No.

They are monkey hangers and will always be monkey hangers

Tories = factory builders :lol:

They did it with their very hands and are well renowned for their brawn.

money and profit motive of course, they still build them.

I've voted for all the main parties over the years but this ingrained "it's not us, it's them" attitude to electoral defeat is why the Labour Party have zero chance of forming a government for at least the next 10 years and probably longer.

If you’re right about another 10 years then that’s 21 years of Tory Government!

Most people think a Green vote is a wasted vote as there is no chance of them getting in and therefore don't vote for them.

Or maybe 'most' people just plainly disagree with their policies.

But in the 'home' of the Greens in the UK, this is not going to be popular or get much agreement.

There is also an even more sinister side of the story. Allegedly the monkey could have been a small boy as youngsters were used as ' powder monkeys' aboard ship. Being the only survivor and not able to speak english or understand the situation the boy was deemed a spy and hung by the locals. Urgh both stories are abhorrent in this day of age but was probably commonplace in times of war in history.

Interestingly, the Greens have defeated the Tory Simon Kirby for their first ESCC seat in Forest Row. Again cooperation as the LD didn't stand.

The Greens have also taken Hollingdean and Stanmer seat from Lab. More interestingly, they were only 300 votes behind the Tories in Patcham, a solid Conservative seat.

It's been a terrific night for Greens, right across the country

Whenever I think of Hartlepool its always followed by 'monkeyhangers' - always has been and always will.

They've just beaten the Tories, Labour and Lib Dems to take Old Hastings and Tressell and claim a second ESCC seat.

Two Independents have taken Polegate and Willingdon respectively, with Labour retaining their Hastings seats, so hopefully it will start to ease the stranglehold the Tories have on the County Council. We can but hope.

On the other hand maybe there's something wrong with the people of Brighton?

I know you're trolling as normal but these sorts of posts really do make me laugh. Brighton has been an arty, seedy, alternative and high camp town for most of the modern era and progressive for longer than when the University of Sussex came into existence. It had Health Food shops galore when I was growing up in the 70s and my parents had friends who were vegetarian and friends who were openly gay and probably those who were both. Food for Friends is a city centre institution and there's always been a strong cycling and running culture thanks to the proximity of the Downs.

This make up of socially liberal, green, educated professionals with the proliferation of jobs in the media and arts, combined with a very hedonistic party attitude makes it the place it is. Either you have chosen to live here or you have chosen to support the football team that lives here so you must absolutely love it in reality. Otherwise you're a massive hypocrite.

I'm cautiously optimistic Lewes will go Green too. Been independent for a long time but they've stood down and with a consistently strong Green showing at Town Council level there's hope.

I'm following it on this map, which can be refreshed. I hope Newhaven will stay LibDem as the candidate did a terrific job when the County council wanted to remove one of our fire engines.
