He's been doing well all spring which I have repeatedly said in different threads and player ratings. I'm not into the whole "whenever player X is doing something its always good, whenever player Y is doing something it is always bad" thing so when a player does well I've not put myself in a corner forcing myself to ignore the positives or negatives of anyone.

Forwards do need to score goals; of course they do - nobody denies that, it would be stupid to claim that people do. But teams above us also have midfielders and defenders who chip in with a few - by and large we don't. And that's a problem.

But theor midfields dont create the amount ours does. Even a half decent forward (never mind prolific) would score for fun in this side. Welbeck has never been prolific, but he has played not even half a season and stuck a few in. Maupay I'm afraid has just been woeful in front of goal game after game. It;s a shame as he does the rest of it well. Find a goal scorer and we will be fine next season. Don't and it's a worry again.

I can see why people get annoyed with our forwards, but they're doing a different job compared to a forward from the seventies. You can't fault the work rate from Maupay and Trossard and I can see we need to add a few goals in those positions. I'll stick my neck out and say they'll have twenty goals between them next season. Crowds will be back, we'll push on, Leeds will struggle, as will palllllace and burnley. We could be looking at tenth or ninth.

People will still moan.

Overall a good performance today, looked quite poor for 25 minutes or so in the middle of the first half but other than that a nice, hard-fought win.

Welbeck excellent up front, defense looked very tight and Bissouma is Bissouma.

My MoM either BDB, Bissouma or Welbeck but everyone did quite well.
