Given the age of the team, I'm amazed at how well Sussex have been doing this season. Lost to Yorkshire who had half the England team, but otherwise been the better team in all their matches. Great to see youth given a chance, and taking it

Lancashire having a 'Sussex like' batting collapse. Carson seems like a real talent. Not many 20 year old spinners in The UK break onto the scene like this.

I must admit I'm liking the young talent that Sussex are bringing through. Carson has of course been the stand out performer, with great economy and wickets, but Atkins (19) on debut looks sharp, and and loved his celebration on getting his maiden 1st class wicket, Crocombe looked decent. Plus of course we've got Thomason, Haines, Clarke and Salt in the batting arena. George Garton at 24 is almost 'old'

Leaving aside that you weren't asking me...

I'd take Archer, because I think he's a better bowler in general, and the next game is at Wantage Road which I tend to assume is a bit on the slow and low side, so won't play to Robinson's strengths.

If Robinson takes 10 wickets in that game, I'm willing to take full responsibility.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing Salt back at the top of the order. Batting has been a pleasant surprise so far, but Salt would add a bit more control against the new ball.

Didn't somebody say he was expected to play a different role this season? No idea what the source for that was.

Not sure I'd use the word control to describe Salt's approach .

I'd love to see him back, I remember the first time I saw him opening we were about 80 runs behind and in the first over he flat batted a good length ball over cover for 4 and continued onto a run-a-ball 50. We lost.

Great fun.

Archer or Robinson. It’s a tough one.
At county level, Robinson has it all but Archer has more top level X factor.
Robinson would surely try harder !

I'll leave comments on their effort levels to people who've had more opportunity to see them live. The only time I've seen Archer in the flesh for Sussex was a match at Trent Bridge a few years ago where Steve Magoffin reduced Notts to about 80-5, went off injured, came back briefly after lunch to take another wicket and then spent the rest of the day watching Riki Wessels marmalise a horribly inexperienced attack all over the ground.

Having checked the scorecard just now, I see Archer took 3/155 in 28 overs, it's fair to say his wickets aren't what stuck in my mind. This was the match, if anybody cares:

I'd assume Archer's pretty keen to get going after a frustrating winter with injury. Ideally we'd all like to see them both together, hopefully at Sussex before they both play against New Zealand.
