Based on the photos I've seen of Maurice Tate, I'm not convinced he put as much effort into each delivery as Robinson does.

Notwithstanding that, I think I'm right in saying he was the only player to do the 1000runs 100wickets double in a non-English season, which is a fun fact to start the day with.

At least Anderson isn't back until Lancs' next game, small mercies and everything.

Yes. He's been fast-tracked into the squad, he only got his contract this week. Looking forward to seeing Frankie make his debut in four or five years time

Fair enough about Head. I saw in the winter that he was expected to miss the first two games and I haven't seen anything about him since

Don't get me wrong, I bow to no one in my unbridled Tate love. But I think we all know that in the past the genuine fast/fast medium bowlers would be selective about how often they bowled flat out in the championship.

I'd like to think Robinson could play a game a week through the season without too many issues, but he looks to have been bowling a lot without holding anything back. If he's pulling up tired after the first few games there's no point flogging him into the ground this early, particularly given he's a decent chance of playing for England this season.

The bowling attack looks pretty useful without him to be fair, even though he's clearly the standout. If, at the end of the game, we think the bowlers were the main problem then the batting will probably have surpassed all our expectations.
