I am not denying climate change, climate change is very real and advancing on us at an alarming pace, I don’t need lecturers from anyone on the subject, I just hope that one day Ms Thunberg travels to China and lectures them. I won’t hold my breath.

1) She hasn't sent you any personal messages or forced you to hear her speak. David Attenborough has just as much coverage when he speaks out. You haven't complained about him.
2) She won't go to China. It is highly unlikely she would be welcome there. You know that. So she speaks where she is welcome.
3) She is an autistic teenager trying to make a difference. Folk trying to bully and undermine her is a little unnerving.

Nah, she doesn't just repeat what the scientists say, she puts her own apocalyptic spin on it ...

https://fee.org/articles/the-real-problem-with-greta-thunberg-is-not-her-age/

To be clear, I don't have a strong opinion on what she does and fair play there are worse things teenagers get up to but the unthinking cult-like devotion she inspires (including lots of middle-aged men on NSC apparently) isn't particularly helpful when addressing fiendishly difficult challenges facing humanity.

She has no cult like devotion here, her message is just defended and folk don't like to see the bullying that goes on. It is middle aged men that engage in such things, I've seen it in my FB feed. Quite unnerving that people can behave in that way.

If people aren't keen on seeing her speak or featured then they can just ignore it or be kind. That's all.

I've read most of this thread. Seems mostly black and white to me. No grey areas.

What I'm fascinated by is why people are interested in listening to an 18 year old who seems to be devoid of personality. What does she really know about climate change? She's not exactly had much wealth of experience.

What would footy fans think about an 18 year old pundit on MotD? I think we'd agree that he (or she) had insufficient experience of the game to be qualified to analyse it.

Playing the bullying card doesn't wash (except outright abuse). If she is viewed as and promoted as the new eco messiah, above any criticism or critical analysis then inevitably there will be push back. As ever in these debates, it's either black or white, no room for shades of grey, for or anti-Greta. Climate change is a serious challenge that needs to be addressed asap but those pushing extreme messages Greta/Extinction rebellion et al alienate as many people as they please in my view. Could be wrong just expressing an opinion!

What has she said that is wrong in your opinion ? Attenborough seems to be in agreement. I don't see him being attacked like she is.

The imminent destruction of the human race unless we take immediate (simplistic?) action. Attenborough hasn't been touring the globe giving apocalyptic, hysterical lectures to the worlds great and good.

You're just not getting the point.

I think I've only watched her speak once in a BBC article. I've watched Attenborough a lot. He endorses her message as relevant to younger folk. To suggest someone of that age has insufficient experience is a statement without evidence. It is the conclusion of those who do know a lot about climate issues that she is relevant.

The main annoyance for me is folk who describe her characteristics in a negative and bullying way.

If she was MY daughter I would be proud. That's the difference between you and I. Whether I fully subscribe to her message is irrelevant.

If already mentioned apologies , i`ve read most but not all the posts so far . The one thing that i hope we can all agree on is that most of our problems stem from greed , the famous 1% as they are known , but far worse the 0.1% who run the world . These include the Oil men and women the Coal industry Gas industry and obviously the Nuclear industry , all of which we don`t need and hav`nt needed since the late 1950s when Zero Point Energy was discovered . In fact most people believe Nikola Tesla discovered it long before that , and that is why he was murdered , all these industries would die literally over night . There are plenty of good documentaries on the subject and even ZPE devices being demonstrated . Perhaps Miss Thunberg should start asking the worlds leaders why we are not using that ? , MONEY ! stuff the planet where`s my new Roller ?

what about the laws of phsics, tho?

they may change at some point, but as it stands...............

I thought that a 18 yr old has got to live a bit yet for her opinions to be listened to,who is behind her to get her noticed?

I`m opening myself up for some more flack so i will point out again in plain English , i do not know for a fact , i am not qualified , i am not ITK .
I watch every documentary and read everything that i can about Aliens , crash retrievals and exotic technologies . The list of people involved is beyond crackpot or bonkers , there are currently 8 astronauts on record as stating the existence of UFOs , and countless senators generals and high profile test pilots and engineers willing to attest to the existence of alien tech . Some of which ( Stanton T Friedman recently deceased ) who was a nuclear physicist have stated that we need to rewrite some of the physics we believe to be true , because there is proof that we have got them wrong . It`s only the arrogance of a species that would destroy the very planet that it`s survival depends on to believe that they cannot be wrong .

What is all this ‘bullying ‘bollox you keep ranting on about? I don’t know her, never likely to meet her, I just think she’s a bit of an odd bod. As for the message..I get it, every sane person on the planet gets it, the world is hurtling towards a climate disaster, whipping smellys into a frenzy, digging up Parliament Square, smashing windows, parking pink yachts in Oxford Circus is not fooling anyone. These wronguns just want to cause agro.
Once again, if she goes to China and speaks to them I’ll be impressed...until then, get a life and get out of mine.

Much appreciated and back at you , but i genuinely believe there are technologies within black projects that are kept under wraps that would make most of our energy problems disappear overnight . The fact is the mighty dollar would collapse if they were realised , there have been several astronauts who have spoken of this including Gordon Cooper and Edgar Mitchell . I appreciate that some on here would consider me "bonkers" but i am in good company .

I maintain an open mind when it comes to contact with extra terrestrials, erring on the side of disbelief. As far as I can see, most technology on earth can be explained perfectly rationally, from the pyramids to high end tech. However, I do believe alternative energy sources are suppressed in order to keep the fossil fuel industry as the only viable fuel source. Which sucks.

Merely responding to and challenging your posts my friend. That what the board is for. You don't have to respond. No need for a tantrum.

I know this will test you , but i do not believe we built the pyramids there are just too many hurdles .

Are you Moldy Brains second account? He ran a very similar argument on the Hamilton thread, he was only a world class sportsman if he won in a Haas, otherwise he was over rated etc. Odd that

There is plenty of historical evidence that show you step by step the evolution of building techniques that lead to the pyramids being built. It's very simple and logical. And of earth.
