Odsonne Edouard. Would be a cracking signing.

Frankly it’s hard to imagine many top end championship strikers would score less from open play than Maupay given the number of chances we create. So:

- If Norwich implode get Pukki
- If Newcastle go down try and get Wilson
- If Burnley go down get Wood
- If Southampton go down (unlikely) get Adams, we won’t get Ings.
- If all the above fail go for Armstrong or Toney.

We wont be in for any of them.

Indeed we did but say AV had been in for him and offering the 75k Watkins is reputed to be on I imagine he would've gone there.

Sure, probably. Just saying Maupay is proof that it does happen - with his scoring record other sides must've been sniffing.

. And to be honest I think people are perfectly within their right to be asking for a new striker, despite one or two on here condescendingly deriding people who've had the temerity to ask for us to spend a little bit more this window when we spent 900k last summer.

We didn't spend lavishly last summer, and the since published accounts suggest good reason for this, but your £900k is way off:

Moder £9.9 Million
Karbownik £4.95 Million
Zeqiri £3.6 Million
Van Hecke £1.8 Million
Veltman £0.9 Million

Total - £21.15 Million

We were lucky to have a lot of this reimbursed by the shrewd loan to buy Knockaert deal done in 2019, but we also had a £17 million+ bid accepted for Nunez who chose to go elsewhere. We were also one of only seven EPL clubs to spend a transfer fee in the winter window, spending £4.5 million on Caicedo.

I don't think that we have a 'right' to be asking for anything in the current circumstances, but it seems clear that Tony Bloom is willing to further increase his investment in the playing staff if the right deal is there. For him, the right deal generally seems to be players near the beginning of their career. Considering the challenge we would have in matching the wages offered by some of our competitors, this seems like a logical approach. It will come with its frustrations as we may see players struggle, learn, improve and mature and then go on to play their best football for someone else, but none of us got into supporting Brighton for the glory, trophies and world dominance. We've known him long enough to know that he'll buy a striker, if he thinks the deal for someone is worth it. If it isn't, he won't.

If Andone can prove his fitness and wants a proper go at the challenge of playing Prem football then I will not be too upset if next season we go with Maupay, Welbeck, Andone as our three main strikers. Backed up by Trossard and Zeqiri. Connolly I feel needs a Championship loan.

But i would love an absolute goal machine signed if possible.

I'm sure the scouts are out and about. current rumours are about
Ivan Kalashnikov , 27, 6'3" ex army commando and former U15's medal winning ballerina . £2m from Athletico Monkeytennis in Moldova, scored 25 goals last season including a header which broke the keepers arm and tore the net.

Richarlison transferred to Everton on 24 July 2018 for a transfer fee starting at £35 million and potentially rising to £50 million.
He salary is apparently £5 million p/a.

Looked rubbish last night!

£30 million doesn't ensure a goal scorer as GP often points out.

That is the problem - even spending £30 Million there is still a risk when buying a striker . Will he settle in etc look at linguard rubbish for Utd , playing for West Ham suddenly looks like Aguero !

I actually realised that I totally forgot about the polish boys. Fair enough. Obviously it's not our money, Tony can spend it how he wants. But my point is that I think fans asking why money isn't being spent on a striker when that's our area of major weakness is a fair question.

I fully expect that our recruitment/sales teams remit this summer will be to shift as many players as possible who arent really part of Potter's plans & then we'll see where we are in terms of wage bill & transfer kitty. Same as any transfer window really, but more emphasis this year on trying to balance the books on any arrivals.

Totally agree, I imagine all of the clubs I mentioned earlier would've looked at Maupay in the same way they will be looking at Ivan Toney. It's so frustrating our lack of a clinical goalscorer as we are such an excellent side in terms of passing and movement. Tammy Abraham would probably be a good fit for us but I imagine the fee will be in excess of 40m with wages of 100k plus a week and with West Ham and Leicester probably being able to offer european football and almost certainly not a relegation scrap.

Norwich need 2 more points. They won't implode enough.

I honestly think Abraham would be perfect.

Talented lad (tick) with a point to prove (tick) who just needs regular game time (tick) at a decent enough Prem side (tick) who will create a shitload of chances for him (tick).

Moder £9.9 Million
Karbownik £4.95 Million

Always tough to know until you see the accounts (and even then its difficult) but
Sky reported these two deals as £6m and £3m
https://www.skysports.com/football/...n-polish-duo-jakub-moder-and-michal-karbownik

and The Argus scoffed at the reported £10m figure when he was signed.
"The Argus have been told the fee would be well below the 11 million euros being quoted in Poland."

He would be good, but he's another one with a high profile who a lot of people will be chasing and will demand big wages. He would be good though, he would score a lot for us I'm sure.

I took the figures from Transfermrkt, so wouldn't be surprised if they're way off.

I just posted on another thread, but I think we should see if we can get Rhian Brewster on the cheap. With Sheff Utd getting relegated they maybe willing to take a hit on what they paid to shift his wages. If we could get him for 15 to 18 million I think that would be good value. I appreciate he hasn't score for Sheff Utd, but they are awful and don't create chances. We do create chnces but can't put them away. And I dont think you become a bad player overnight. If he came into an environment that nurtures young players, his confidence would hopefully improve. I think he'd be a decent option.

He wouldn’t be the first former Liverpool player that flopped as soon as they left their academy
