But no draws expected in our last 4 games, just the matter of 4 wins listed on the tracker to come, although 3 wins will likely be enough.

This is the thread that keeps me sane during all this. I dont think we'll need the full 40 points, 37/38 should do it. A couple of those hopeful wins wont be wins, but some of the losses wont be losses. Another 8+ points is perfectly doable if we cut out the mistakes like we did today.

Interestingly, NONE of our wins have come in matches when we were expected to win. Which is good, as we have a few matches left where we are expecting nowt.
I agree nothing is predictable this year apart from Palace being boring *****.

I won't give up the belief until it is mathematically impossible to stay up. So much still to play for.

Previous years after game 28 - where we were with 10 to go >>

17/18 - 31 points ( 2 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeats) - 40. (wins v Arsenal, Man U)
18/19 - 30 points - (1 win, 3 draws, 6 defeats) - 36 (win v Palace)
19/20 - 28 points - (3 wins, 4 draws, 3 defeats) - 41 (Arsenal, Norwich, Burnley)
20/21 - 29 points ( Newcastle, Man Utd, Everton, Chelsea, Sheffield United, Leeds, Wolves, West Ham, Man City, Arsenal - we still have to play 5 of the top 6)

Last 10 games - W4, D3, L3

Sure, but our recent record against 7 of those 10 teams is pretty good.

West Brom got a point against United recently. Everton were beaten by Burnley. City will already have the title won by the time we play them. Arsenal's season will be done by our game. We should be looking at every game thinking we can gets points.

Agreed but we need to focus on the Newcastle and Sheffield United games because they could be the games that are the foundation of our survival. I'm confident we'd be able to pick up some 'surprise' results elsewhere but equally wouldn't be surprised if those other fixtures gave us just a couple of points.

Not much point in turning up if you don't

We won't beat Everton and WHU so I'm thinking 4 points from the last 2 games.

We only need to start a false rumour that Glenn Murray might still be eligible to play and West Ham's great season long form will dissolve into a pile of sloppy jelly.

In the 3 previous seasons the games we've won in the last 10 have been against Arsenal (twice), Man Utd, Palace, Norwich and Burnley.
We've picked up draws v Wolves (twice), Arsenal, Spurs, Burnley, Hudds, Leicester, Southampton and Newcastle.

We seem to be picking up points in games where we aren't having so much possession and losing games when we have the lion's share.
Following that logic we could reach safety by losing to Newcastle and Sheffield U and picking up points to Wolves, West Ham, Arsenal and Everton.
