The problem is that in a side coached by Graham Potter, we are NOT looking for a physical focal point, GP likes his strikers to be nippy and nimble.

I appreciate that, but just because a player can stand his ground doesn’t mean he can’t be mobile. It also appears Potter does actually enjoy a blend of strikers, Welbeck and Zeqiri are very much not ‘nippy and nimble’ . Imagine if we had a striker who’s head appeared to be shaped like a 50pence piece, we could have scored plenty more goals this season. Also worth noting that at 6’2 Nunez definitely doesn’t fall into your ‘nippy and nimble’ specification. We shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that Potter only wants a specific type of striker simply because he has to play Maupay as he’s the best of a bad bunch.

Does he? What about McBurnie who he helped get a big move and our attempts to sign Nunez?

Met his agent on a funeral at the Woodvale Crematorium, reckons he's the answer to our long term problems.

Why, is he deadly in the box?

Well... the gems are the exception to the rule, you have to admit. For every Vardy there are 50 Johnny Dixon's, Nathan Elder's et al.

Yes.I take your point.

Johnny Dixon? Barry Lloyd must have been on the sherberts when he scouted him!! You could have also mentioned Tiltman and.Holdroyd.

I guess what i was trying to say was we should not turn our nose up at anyone.Ivan Toney was supposed to have been scouted by us.That ship has now sailed That striker that was at Crawley was watched and everyone expected better.

All i am saying is we should leave no stone un-turned

I did reply that's what Barry Fry told us about CMS :)

Care to explain how that conversation developed

Toney would have been the player to get, movement and power.....

Missed the boat there.

Unfortunately Lucas Joao has three attributes that Graham Potter is not looking for in a striker, big, strong, and good goalscorer. :nono:

Certainly the latter

Are we a touch snobby when it comes to player recruitment? We’d all like a £30m Darwin Nunez but the reality is that it’s not happening anytime soon. Jamie Vardy was still at Fleetwood Town aged 25, nothing to say this lad could do a job, he’s got far more first team experience than Connolly and Zeqiri, if we’re looking for a physical focal point there’s no harm in looking?
Of course it is possible that an agent is drumming up interest to line their own pocket.

Not sure about Nunez - only scored 4 goals in the Primeira in Portugal this season - hardly ripping up a far inferior league.

Think we may have missed another Locadia type bullet with this one.

As I said previously, I was alluding to the prestige of signing an in demand prospect for a big fee, Nunez was merely an example.

Usain Bolt is 6 foot 5 inches. He can be quite nippy on a good day.

Looks good to me.
He reminds me of someone...
Who was that striker we signed a few years ago who played for Bristol rovers?...
Anyway this bloke looks exactly what we are missing, big, strong, bit of attitude and confident in front of goal.
Let's give him up the training ground for a kick about and see how he does.
