That's not true. You can complete it beforehand if all your circumstances are going to be the same on the 21st as they are the day you fill it out. You also have to account for anyone that will be staying at your house on the 21st that isn't in your regular household, although that shouldn't be happening under the current covid regs.

I would imagine the folks that don't think you are allowed to fill it out before the 21st haven't read the accompanying letter to the end. Just seen the bit about 21st and thought "Oh good, don't need to think about that now"

Filled mine out this morning. I'm a pretty standard issue human so it didn't take long. What is strange is that I'm in my forties and I don't ever remember filling one out before, even though I haven't lived with parents since I was 11. Never mind. All done now.

NB - For those well meaning but moronic individuals that think witholding info on a census ensures your anonymity, if you have a mobile phone or have logged into a website in your life, sent a text, made a phone call, browsed amazon etc, the census is the least of your troubles :lolol:

I'm the same. Don't remember filling one out (unless the wife did it for me) and I'm 42.

They're every 10 years I think. In the dark deep recesses of my brain I remember a thing going around where loads of people were quoting their religion as Jedi because if X amount of people said they were it would be classed as a religion......

Or am i being a div? Been drunk a LOT of times since then so lots of memories have fallen out of my head I'm sure....

Did mine for me, the GLDHI, and my mother.

Mum was surprised when I told her that I'd put her down as having married a woman, just for the lolz.

Two women and one man in the same house?

You must be one of those progressive European Jedi types :moo:

Yes, we are all fundamentally European. Apart from those who see themselves as fundamentally African or fundamentally Asian or fundamentally American.

With respect, I think you're missing the point; There are a lot of people who intend to put thier nationality down as solely European rather than English European, Scotch European etc.

Fortunately, we moved Mum into the annexe (separate building) about 3 weeks ago. Prior to that she had been living in the flat attached to the house for 6 months - the noise from her TV was deafening.

Good move

Reminds me of the wife's father. He was 53 when he had her and in his 90s when he passed away, and for all the time I knew him he was deaf as a post. He only watched horse racing. Walking down his road on a Saturday afternoon was (sound wise at least) pretty much akin to being in the main stand at Ascot.

You're not wrong, there's even a Wiki article on the "Jedi Census Phenomenon". Interesting that it was a worldwide quirk, not just here in the UK. Also:

Wikipedia said:
[The] Director of Reporting and Analysis for the Census, noted that many people who would otherwise not have completed a Census form did so solely to record themselves as Jedi, so this joke helped to improve the quality of the Census. The Office for National Statistics revealed the total figure in a press release entitled "390,000 Jedi there are".
