...The National Audit Office reported that we've so far paid £2.9bn for 267m doses - in other words, £10.86 per dose. Nearly 40% of the vaccines we have bought are the AZ/Oxford version, which we know AZ are selling at about £1.60 each to the EU. Hence, given that the AVERAGE that we're paying is nearly 7 times this figure, you have to conclude that we are paying a huge amount more for the vaccines than the EU.

you havent taken account of the large proportion of the vaccines that are the £15/dose Pfizer or £25/dose Moderna or other types. they will substantially raise the average. if we're paying av £20 for the remaining 60% (we're not), that would be £3.2bn alone. conclusion - not enough public information to calculate this properly.

I can't quite work out what your point is? Britain is better presumably? The EU sets minimum standards, countries are free to set their own levels above those minimums, and most do.

Do you want to see higher minimum levels baked into EU rules?

Didn't take them long :annoyed: I can't see how this cannot possibly be passed on to the consumers as yet another charge/fee on buying from the EU..

Brexit win for banks: Mastercard to increase fees for UK purchases from EU

MASTERCARD has made a bold post-Brexit move by increasing fees more than fivefold when a British shopper uses a debit or credit card to buy from an EU-based company. The credit card giant levies an "interchange" fee on behalf of banks for every payment that uses its network. Payments to hotels, airlines, car rentals and holiday companies from UK-based customers will be affected. The move sparked alarm among firms that rely on online payments to keep business going.

With an economic contraction only surpassed by Argentina in the G20 and the highest death rate per capita of any major country on planet earth, yes we do need to try and be world beating at something positive

We didn't get anything in the way of financial services in exchange for screwing over the fish, but still tariff free machego and chorizo sausage. Its not all bad..

I love Manchego and Iberian Black Pig Chorizo, so pleased they avoided tariffs

Just a bit of a shame about UK Exporters, Fishing industry, Logistics industry, Financial Services Industry, Farming Industry, Jobs, Ports, Economy etc etc, but surely no one have seen this happening ...................... Oh

And Is it PotG?, congratulations. You've managed to give me a thumbs up on every post I've made this morning within 2 minutes of me posting it

Just a little tip. If you/JCFG spent a little less time hovering on NSC waiting for me to post, and a little more time job hunting, you may not need to spend all your time hovering on NSC waiting for me to post. Just trying to help

Services really is the biggie, 80% of our econ, 46% exported, 43% of which goes to the EU. Basically 16% of UK economy thrown under the bus

UK had an 8% GDP grow deficit versus Germany 2016-2020, wonder what it will be in the next 4 years?

That stupid nasty little bitch will keep calling for a referendum until such time as she gets the result she wants!

Seems to be a pattern here, same as the democracy denying spunk trumpets that did not accept the silent majority that voted to leave the Fourth Reich.

You don't need a cue. You've been hanging out in the bear pit since your ban finished. Makes a change from hanging out the back of your mum I suppose.

This is the bit in the playground where I tell BL, don’t hit him the inevitable ban isn’t worth it, ignore him BL [emoji23]
