[Albion] Potter was a terrible coach at Swansea too

Yes,I think you are right.i think I recall potter saying he was shocked now you mention it.
Maybe then it is a case of Tony bloom knowing this was a long term project for potter,a couple of seasons of identifying weaknesses and developing players and implenting the culture .
If you believe potter is not the right person then that's fair enough but at this point I believe it's far too early for me to think that way.
He has percy tau at his disposal now, moder coming in and I think we will see a striker in this window so I expect to see potter being able to further implement the style the club wants to see and results will improve.

Moder had his first training session today. I think his first involvement will be round 4. With Tau and hopefully Izquerdo, and Andone returning to fitness after January hopefully the squad will be changed enough to give him a chance.

Why can't we just get behind him and support the efforts being made by all the team during unprecedented circumstances?

We might if they let us in the ground, giving your support on here means **** all mate.

I hope, and I’d like to think you would as well, be proved wrong around the beginning of May. Let’s see and discuss then.

I would love to be proved wrong. From what it looks like though our hopes are resting on Percy Tau and a kid from Poland to rejuvenate our squad, neither who have any top league experience. I’m not hopeful this is enough to somehow turn us into Potters masterpiece plan whatever that actually is.

So we are relying on Moder, Tau and two crocks?

Do you lay blame on our league position and lack of wins in 2020 on Potter, or a combination of Potter and inadequate transfer business by the club?

You’ve made your position clear on Potter, but here you also highlight Tau and Moder.

I think you are being rather kind to Potter. Hughton's points return was 16% higher than Potter. Last season if we would have achieved 16% more points than we did, we would have finished two places higher in the table. It's not an insignificant difference.

Hughton - points per Albion EPL game - 1.0
Potter - 1.0

Hughton - goals conceded per game - 1.5
Potter - 1.49

Potter’s not turned a great defensive unit into a shambles, the stats are identical.

What is the point of another pointless thread about Potter. Tony Bloom owns the club, he makes the decisions, if he thinks Potter is not up to the job he will get rid of him, regardless of how much time is left on his contract. Tony Bloom has put a hell of a lot of money into the club, yes I'm sure he would like us to be higher in the table, poker players are like Chess players, they are thinking a couple of hands o r moves ahead. I believe that Tony Bloom is also looking to the future and at the moment the future is with Potter. What doesn't help is every day another new thread about getting rid of Potter. That is down to Tony Bloom. We need to accept this and get behind the club. If that means we are at some point we are relegated then so be it. I support the club and support any decision made by the owner, whether I agree with it or not.

And that is precisely the problem - you can play that way if you can afford to spent money on some of the best players in the world - when you have poorer quality players you end up getting exposed, struggling to get points - and then you are left with a team that is not set up for a relegation dog-fight.

For a team like Brighton the model should not be Man City - it should be the likes of Leicester (or dare I say Southampton) - both Rodgers and Hasenhüttl have been very impressive - a well run, well organised team, with pace and you find and keep a striker capable of scoring well into double figures every season.

I don't see a problem
We have proven we can play great football on a smaller budget, the only difference is man city operate at the top end of the league whilst we operate at the bottom and no new manager is going to change that at this point with the resources we have currently but potter, ashworth and bloom are laying the foundations so we can progress up the table and with tau and moder and maybe a striker in January I believe we will be better placed than others around us when it comes to a relegation battle.
Liecsters team has been years in development and they have had an exceptional goalscorer in vardy.we are at the beginning of our journey under ashworth and potter.
Southampton is a club we are trying to replicate in terms of the academy but again they are far ahead of us on that one and yes they are doing fantastic this season because they chose to stand by their manager when things were not looking great, which is something we should be aware of.

These are Potter's and Hughton's stats after 53 Premier league games;
Potter - W10 D22 L21 F59 A78 Points 52
Hughton - W15 D16 L22 F53 A75 Points 61

For the percentages of those 53 games
Potter - W 18.87% / D 41.51% / L 39.62
Hughton - W 28.30% / D 30.19% / L 41.51%

After 53 games, Hughton had a marginally better record. But the truth is there isn't much between them. It is worth noting that Hughton's record doesnt include the bad run of results at the end of that second season, which is largely what is held accountable for his sacking. The point I'm making is that prior to the bad run Hughton had, a lot of people were content for him to remain, and from the results that is largely where Potter is in terms of results/points.

Personally I think two decent managers having a similar records with our club, demonstrates how difficult it is to get a club to progress in the premier league. And begs the question, if you got rid of Potter who could realistically come in and do a better job. I think you would be looking for a miracle worker, one of those right place right time scenarios, but you can't plan for that you get lucky with them. I think we should keep faith with the plan, and let Potter build on what we have. Continuity is the only way to build consistency, and consistency is what you need if you want to progress in my opinion.

Very true.

We have 2 issues.

1) Covid idiots
2) an entitled fan base.

If we could fix these, life would be so much happier for many.

This thread title is a disgrace.

I mean, as an Albion fan do you really want one of our players, or even the gaffer himself seeing this title...? Do you think it’ll help?

Whether you think GP is the man for us or not, he’s hardly a “terrible coach”. I mean that’s just a real dumbass thing to say for a guy who clearly has admirers in the game.

As someone posted above, some folk on NSC are an embarrassment at the moment. But perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised, when someone posted a disgusting thread title like “hopefully the end of Connolly” for one our bright young talents, a good lad starting his career.

Please mods. Rename this thread title. It really makes us look pathetic as a fan base.

3. Club lickers living in a dream

If your implying I am a licker, you're way wide of the mark.

I will only back things I believe in and if I don't believe in it, I will give my opinion and not just say what people want to hear.

I am pretty sure anyone that knows me will agree with that. There is never any true malice.

A licker is pretty much on the opposite spectrum to me.

The club failed badly to bring in better striking options bit I still believe Potter has much better to play with than Hughton did in his first season.

Dan has been gunning for potter for ages.

I think it's a emotional attachment to Chris that is driving his ability to see what Potter is building.
