a galaxy far far away
I can’t see too many clubs spending big this transfer window as the lack of crowds means clubs are haemorrhaging cash. I saw that Bank of England have given Arsenal a £120m facility so I don’t think they’ll be parting with £35m-£40m for Yves, and I believe that Arsenal are the team that are at the front of the queue for him. So, yes, I think you are right and I honestly think we won’t risk letting him go in January with the position we are in the league.

I'd be ******* livid if they bought Yves with taxpayer underwritten loans

Ally Mac played/plays for Argentina. He's not had too much of a look in yet.

Whilst I'd love it if this lad hits the ground running and is in beast mode from day 1 I don't think it's fair to expect it or think that just because he's played a handful of games for Ecuador he'd walk right into our first team. Ahead of Dutch international Propper? Or Mali international Bissouma? Or (former) England international Lallana? Or Polish international Moder? Or Columbian international Alzate? Or Irish international Molumby?

Poor old Gross, he seems to be the only midfielder without an international cap.

That all said, I'd ruddy love it if he was the new Kante. Him and Bissouma would run midfield every week!

i get your point. As mentioned in my previous post, my comment was more about performances against the level of opposition rather than just being capped for his country.

Mac Allister, Lallana and Moder aren't the same type of player as Caicedo,so he's wouldn't be competing for their place.
Alzate and Molumby haven't put in performances like Caicedo has for his country against the same level of opposition. He would most likely play alongside Bissouma, if he starts. I don't think anyone is suggesting he would replace Bissouma (unless Bissouma is sold of course).
And assuming he does join Brighton, he still needs to settle into the team and adjust to teams playing style. So you're right a first team place isn't a given (as we've seen with Mac Allister, but he's still in the first team he's not in the under 23's).

I think this one is one for the future... dont expect him to go from the Ecuadorian league to playing in the Premier League this quickly. Probably going on loan or perhaps playing with the U23. As you say there are a lot of midfielders around.

I’d normally agree with this, but if it’s true that he has picked us over clubs like Everton then I expect that would be because he has been told he’ll get a chance to play in the first team.

He's a regular for the Ecuador national team and played against Colombia, Argentina and Urugay and been one of the best players on the pitch. He's far too good to not be in the first team if he joins Brighton.

Agreed.

He’ll want 1st team football in order to stay in the Ecuador set-up, something that I’m sure Man Utd could not guarantee; maybe that’s why we have a rumoured advantage in this transfer?

We’ve got a number of young international midfielders (Molumby, Baluta, Alzate, Mac Allister & Moder) whose international careers are in real danger of fading out before they start due to the limited 1st minutes they get with us or could get with us. I’d be shocked if young Moises is going to risk his international place by essentially being an U23 or squad member. He’ll want starts.

All this, of course, means that a top player or two could be on their way now or in the summer. Biss & Pröpper would be the ones that spring to mind although I’d love us to keep both.

Its possible, but Im not sure he would be risking his place in the Ecuardorian team just because he plays with the U23/gets loaned somewhere for six months. I dont think the 'he'll want starts" is very likely. As a 19 year old midfielder from the Ecuadorian league you probably dont go anywhere demanding things. If he got some kind of "I'm a superstar and won't sign if you dont guarantee me starts" then he got the wrong attitude. Personally I think he is most likely very grateful over the opportunity to sign for a team in one of the best leagues in the world and increase his pay-check with 10-20x.

Being a regular for Ecuador doesnt necessarily mean you are "too good" not to be part of a PL squad.

As for Potter he will play him if he thinks he is good enough... Some seem to expect that all young players should be playing all games which is not how it works.

Still think he’s too forward looking to play DM in the Premier League.
Risk leaving an enormous hole in defence (how often does that happen now?) if he’s caught out of position. Remember he is very young and still learning. Play him in his natural position where his talents will benefit the team

Fabrizio Ramano who is a highly respected sports journalist with over 2 million Twitter followers tweeted a couple of hours ago that a fee has been agreed with his club and Brighton but not personal terms yet so other clubs could still scupper the deal .

Might we be looking at a midfield four of Moder, Tau, Caicedo AND Bissouma?

With Bernardo out of favour, Burn coming off a nightmare vs Wolves and Lamptey injured the wing-back formation is not looking so clever. When Biss got starts he used to be a real threat jinking on the edge of the box and causing a threat. I'd like to see him guven more licence to get forward.

I still think Biss will be off and Caicedo is his replacement, but hopefully Biss won't leave until the summer.

Was watching some random programme on sky yesterday covering Dutch football and they were saying that Propper was being linked with PSV at the moment, and Ali j with vitesse

They were also saying the young Ajax lad who went to United asked to have his contract cancelled as he hates it in England and missing his family...bless

I assumed midfield of Biss,Moder and Caicedo

Front three of Tross/Tau/Maupay or Welbeck

I kind of agree but why not an agreement for the summer then or a loan back? (Both could of course happen) Not seen the kid, so hard to comment but I wonder if a fast track to 1st team football is part of the package to attract him and if so that would possibly mean one of the other 1st team CM players moving? I'm sure Saunders will go out on loan if they can find the right team but that would still leave Biss Alzate, Moder, Gross,Lallana, Propper competing for 2 places potentially although obviously Gross/Lallana are competing for the no 10 role too.

Seems too many to me and to my mind if Caicedo comes in I think one at least goes the other way even if the plan is to make him a squad player and ease him in. Been wrong before mind...

If Biss is expected to be off in the summer, he'd be the obvious replacement. Come in and learn the role plus a few minutes here and there to be ready come September.
