Hence my feeling that Bloom needs to improve the squad. The players are falling well short of what is required for the tactics. Really hope that Bloom sticks with it (even if we get relegated) and replaces the sub standard players rather than the manager who I bloody love

I actually think we’re a good striker away from being a comfortable team, but until we find that elusive scorer any other deficiencies will be magnified.

Why do they have to be labelled in the first place? It’s not a crime to have a different opinion.

It's not a crime but it does get tedious when our fans do nothing but criticise every moment of a game when there are positives too.

Negative Nerys'

Played 15 only lost 6, the stats were shown on Sky that we are the worse finishers, this can only improve and if Uncle Tony wants to spend the cash where could we be?

Leicester sitting in 3rd have lost 5, but they have Vardy, who turns the chances into goals.

Fine margins but I am confident we will stay up.

I think Duffy gets a bit of a raw deal when it comes to his technical ability, he wasn't that bad on the ball.

He used to ping some decent diagonals and long balls.

No excuse for players not doing their job though, they know the system. Not being good enough to do it is the problem.

Is that the manager’s problem? Well yes of course it is but the blame lies with the quality of players he has to work with. Is this another bring back Hughton and “let’s get everyone behind the ball and feck trying to win the game” attempt ?

Let's just assume for a moment that you are right (and you might well be) that the players aren't good enough to play the way Potter wants them to. Surely it is down to Potter to see that and accept that the players are incapable of adapting to his style and change it? Isn't that what the job is all about? Identify your strengths and play to them.

When it comes to our defending zonal marking is totally shambolic. It doesn't work so bin it.

I seen this bloke around the Amex a few times. Spanish he is; bald head and a fetching beard. Strikes me as the kind of fella who might just know a bit or two about defending.

Understood, I just have a deep seated loathing of that particular phrase.

I agree, but I am happy to back Potter on it, maybe the translation was an issue!

I’d broadly agree with that but say that we’re an in-form striker away from being comfortable. I’d have never classified Pat Bamford as good at PL level based on his previous attempts, but he scored his 10th goal of the season today!

If Dunk's goal had been ruled out - any chance we could have been awarded a penalty instead? Look at the holding going on here _116273627_lewisdunk.jpg

Given the position Brighton are in, you cannot afford to lose a lead with ten minutes to go - this was two points lost rather than a point gained.

Cannot afford to lose on Tuesday.

So it's the players. So we need at least 11 new players in the next two transfer windows or more of the same next season.
Gonna be tough on poor Uncle Tony.

Players are decent individually. They just don't function as a team. Was there any chemistry between the front three today. Did the players know how to use White on the right side today? Did Burn and March have good chemistry, overlapping each other and knowing exactly when to pass to the overlapping player? I am not a Potter out guy, but I hate his constant experimenting. Does not allow cohesion and chemistry to develop among the players. Dunk and Webster are finally developing some cohesion because they've been playing next to each other more regularly...

Interesting, ex-pros ALWAYS talk about the importance of building up partnerships.
At the beginning of the season White, Lamptey and Biss def had it. Seemed to instinctively know where each other was. Not too many examples of that atm.
Very good post. It's so nuanced. Can't simply be put down solely to the players or solely to Potter but neither are coming out with a huge amount of credit right now.
