As I have said on other threads if we have no choice in selling a player, i.e. the transfer money is mental and the player wants to go I would rather it be Ben White than Bissouma. We seem to be able to produce CB's relatively easily, Clarke(brought from Pompey) on loan at Derby, Hayden Roberts on loan at Rochdale and Lars Dendoncker in the u23's - calling A-Z Gull to confirm their prospects - I see Biss as far more critical and way harder to replace than White, who I am still not convinced really wants to be here. :nono:

Consistenly performing really good in one of the two best leagues in the world. It takes you places. They've been searching for a long while for someone who could play when Casemiro is injured/resting/whatever. It would be no weirder than when they borrowed Faubert from West Ham or when they bought Gravesen from Everton (allegedly confusing him with Lee Carsley, which would have been even more crazy).

At the upper end of the EPL there are rumours like this all the time. The unusual nature of such a rumour involving one of our players just shows how unregarded (aka, not all that good) our players are. Or have been

Yup. Could imagine it feels a bit surreal to you old-schoolers.

Yes it does. I'm disinclined to overreact, personally, but it is unheralded. Lawrenson to Liverpool, when we were in the top flight first time round is, really, the only 'big' transfer we've had. We have never been close to signing a fit current England international, for example. Tommy Cook, Peter Ward, Steve Foster, Lewis Dunk, the only players to play for Brighton and England at the same time. And none of them left much of a ripple on the stream of International Glory.

It isn't much of a surprise, really that we Albion supporters have a bit of an inferiority complex, and indeed Imposter Syndrome by proxy. It gets on my tits, which is why I get so tired of the bed wetting threads, the pining for the good old days when you could stand on the terrace with a pint of Watney's Special in one hand and a cigarette (Number 6, or a Chesterfield if you'd wan a few bob down the bookies) in the other, and the lack of backbone and stoicism.

Anyway, none of your lip about the old school, me laddio.

a pint of Watney's Special

Given Swansman's slight cultural gap in relation to the Albion (which he has admirably researched and got quite clued up on), I like the way you have now set him the task of learning the significance of Watneys Special, and Watney's Red Barrel in the English psyche!

How marvellous we have players being linked with perceived big clubs , thing is we're not a selling club anymore and any team wanting the likes of Bissouma and Lamptey will have to cough up way over the odds for Bloom to even raise a eyebrow .

I set him little cultural tasks all the time. We'll make a proper Seagull of him, yet

ps and let's not forget Trophy and Double Diamond.

So, my question for today is, about which disgusting keg bitter did the actress barmaid in the TV add say......brace yourself.....

"I don't drink it myself. But I like the men who drink it."

Be thankful if you were a bitter drinker and not lager......when you pop in to the pub and find it only has Skol and Harp on tap......or worse, Kestrel (before they were reborn as 'craft super premium' or whatever they call themselves now) :nono:

This isn't as such making him more English, than more Old Man.

I'm vaguely aware of Watney's Red Barrel, but they stopped brewing it before I was born...

I think Beeney to the mighty Leeds was seen as a club saving transfer at the time.

This is exciting news. If all goes well for Yves, he'll be able to play with Joniesta, who I believe has been a Real Madrid player for some years now (or am I confusing them with Barcelona? It's definitely one of them).

Might have kept an eye on the rumours that Biss is the next best thing. Will leave it as 'interest'

Liverpool
Might show an interest but wont be willing to pay big bucks.

Arsenal will be interested but wont risk big money

That leaves Man United

They will want Biss as a replacement for Pogba, they will bid 50- 60 million to scare of the others interest. He will go in January but loaned back for the rest of the season. It always happens when United are interested.

Still in Brighton
I imagine IF Real are looking at Biss it's because they are flippin' broke and looking for a bargain buy from little 'ol Brighton. They don't realise that we'll want big money for him. Hence, it won't happen. The only way we'll get big bucks for any of our players is if another Premier league club really want them. i think anyway.
