Not a bad game so far, quite lively

I thought it was an excellent half for Albion. Weir's 4th goal in the last 5 games. Teddy Jenks is a Rolls-Royce of a player, tall, gliding through the midfield and spraying passes around for fun.

Its a shame the club don't do a preview like they do for the first team explaining current injuries for the u23s.

Would love to know the measure of Khadra and Dendoncker's injuries and where players such as Kazukolovas and Tolaj have been this season.

Also, you do get the feeling they seem to have a very long 'Standby' list for the first team. People like Sanchez, Walton, Izqurido, Zeqiri, Molumby, Sanders, Gwargis seemingly left in no-mans land. I understand this is a busy period and there is Covid but....

They are keeping each other company at the training ground:-

I read this interview with Gwargis in November where he said that he was supposed to be part of the senior squad this season but that "things happened" (my interpretation: the club couldnt get rid of Ali J and possibly others).

He also went on to say that the club wants to mix senior squad players and U23 players as little as possible because of the virus. Meaning if you play with the U23 you wont train with the senior squad and vice versa. Since Molumby and Alzate started for the U23s a week ago or so I guess they make some exceptions to make sure the players closest to the senior team gets a game now and then.

On a sidenote he also said he wants to go on loan in January and that clubs from Holland and England are interested.

I guess there were a few players the club were not able to get rid of/ get on loans this summer which goes a way to explaining the no-mans land in the squad that's appeared. Fingers crossed the January transfer window gets a lot of these guys on loan.

Yup. Some are quite obvious, like Peter Gwargis, Max Sanders and one of Sanchez/Walton. My guess is that they probably had League One offers but that the club would either want them in the Championship or stay where there is good training facilities. I dont know what its usually like in the UK but over here when you loan a player to the equivalent of League One, the players go back to train once or twice with their owner club once or twice each week but I'm guessing any kind of solution like that is impossible during this covid-shite.

Hope so.

I realise that winning PL2 is less important than developing our youngsters, but boy, if we threw in our no-mans'-land squad into the U23s we'd have a hell of a team!

Weir and Jenks are serious prospects.
I don't rate Gwargis. Doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as Khadra, although i accept young wingers are inconsistent.

If we named our best u23 team for the PL2 including first team players and loan players i don't think one of the the current u23 would be playing;

Sanchez

Lamptey
Ostigard
White
Karbownik

Alzate
Molumby
Moder

MacAllister
Zeqiri
Connolly

Even a second team;

Rushworth

Yapi
van Hecke
Roberts
Cochrane

Baluta
Sanders
Richards

Gwargis
Gyokeres
Mlakar

Strength in depth is unreal!
