This doesn't surprise me. The teams in favour are going to be a) the big teams with top quality players throughout their squads and b) smaller teams like us who have decided to spread their relatively small resources thinly across the squad as opposed to smaller teams Palace who have jizzed their budgets on 2 or 3 big name players but are left with mediocrity to fill out their squad beyond the first XI.

Klopp needs to appreciate we're in the midst of a global pandemic and given footballers were asked earlier in the pandemic to take a pay cut and they refused then to make the money up to pay their wages from TV money they are going to have to play a lot of football. Klopp is a well paid manager so needs to manage his resources more effectively. I am sure there are many doctors and nurses in covid ICU wards up and down the country who would love a rest too.

Exactly this. I seem to rmember there were a few eyebrows raised when Liverpool didn't spend much (relatively speaking) in the window. Maybe the recruitment team should've made a bit more of an effort, if he doesn't think his squad is good enough

Haven't read all the comments but, clearly, some people don't understand journalism and/or the art of interviewing. Klopp picked the wrong target to vent at, well and truly and I think Kelly handled it pretty professionally.

The thing that gets me is that given they are Premier League champions - and recent Champions League champions - Liverpool have ample squad depth to cope with the number of games, even taking injuries into consideration.

It seems that Klopp has become someone who isn't happy unless he's got something to whinge about. Number of subs? Blame Chris Wilder. Having to play early on a Saturday? Blame the TV companies. A few injuries? Blame... anyone that will listen. Milner - no spring chicken - started three games in a week, didn't he? It's not a complete surprise that he's injured, then!

Its not about deflecting anything. He said pretty much the exact same thing after their best performance, 3-0 against Leicester:

“Sky and BT have to talk because if we keep playing Wednesday and Saturday at 12:30, I’m not sure if we will finish the season with 11 players. All the top six or seven. But I know you don’t care.

Tonight's match Klopp makes one substitution before 90mins. He can make 5 (five). Ajax made 4. With an alledged ravaged squad.

Perhaps todays result is worth too much money, or he squad is so weak the subs are rubbish, or its all much ado about nothing.

Still, Liverpool now qualify to the last 16
