Think Ashworth is doing his job to be fair. The issue is Potter isn’t doing his job and quite possibly isn’t the messiah a lot on here seem to think he is!

If Potter is as bad as you think, he is certainly a messiah to you, since there is nothing that makes you happier than watching Brighton lose.

I was going to research this as I thought we’d started the season fairly unchanged where possible so thanks for saving me the effort.

:shootself:

GPott's team has played 8 games.
1 game was an 'unchanged squad'.

Of the remaining 6 games.

Bissouma has missed 3
Dunk has missed 3
Civil unrest has cost 3 players a place.
There have been injuries to The Tross Lallana and perennial sub Ali J

For GPott not to to be 'The Tinkerman' he'd have needed to play 7 men v Tottingham.

Did Ashworth miss a succession of good chances yesterday then? Preposterous idea

19 attempts on goal, how many saves did the keeper make? This is an issue for the coach and to a greater degree the players to sort out.

Why do we dominate games regularly but fail to win them? For all his plus points Lamptey has to hit the target, why is Maupay trying to get shots off through traffic instead of using the overlaps offered to him? Why are we refusing good chances to shoot to recycle the ball over and over? Why is the crossing from good positions so poor? Why does hardly anyone put their laces through the ball? We try to pass everything into the net. Why have we no threat from set pieces despite being a big team? Defensively why do we give away sloppy goals from set pieces despite being a big team?

This has nothing to do with Ashworth. This is to do with the players stepping up and Potter working harder on the deficiencies we clearly have because change just a few of the above and we are a very good team indeed. But Potter needs to earn his money now, we cannot go on flattering to deceive and alongside that the players cannot expect to coast along in their comfort zone while failing to deliver where it matters. Anyone with half a brain can see we are a decent side, better than a lot of this division but that means nothing without results....

What a complete p.Rick you are. You are someone who has had an interest in our club for 18 months and only because the current coach worked in his home country.
Please don’t tell me that ‘nothing makes me happier then when we lose’. I have been going to games, home and away for 40 years and actually support the club! I am not a fan of Potter, I don’t think he is up to the job and his abysmal record verifies this! This is my view and I’m entitled to it that is what a forum is about. Please don’t assume you know anything about me!
I understand many want to give him more time as they like the his passing football. How much time is appropriate? He has won 2 home games in 2020 and this is unacceptable. He has now been here 18 months!
You are also entitled to post your views on here and I do understand that Potter will always be great to you even if and when he takes us down and eventually leaves (at which time you will hopefully go as well). Good luck to you. Time will tell who is right but I have a feeling this time next year, when we are a mid Championship team you will be trolling another clubs site!

Cloud cookbook land, for Ashworth to make a difference it’s a minimum of 3-4years and you only need to look at how many u23 players weve signed to see this.

There seems to be a lot of ill feeling towards Potter a the moment

Let me stop it there. From a minority.

Lots of us are not reactionary FIFA players and can see the improvements and evolution at this club, and not making knee jerk emotional reactions.

Many of us still back Potter and can see what he’s doing.

Ok, having now caught up this is a ludicrous thread. Is this now a NSC trend, after every defeat: “at what point should x be sacked?”

Firstly do you understand what the measures of Dan Ashworth job is? His job is nothing to do with the coaching or results on the pitch. He’s looking out for the future of the club.

Have you noticed many good young players going out on loan and having rave reviews? Have you not noticed the quality coming through and having a pathway to the first team now? Alzate, Connolly, Sanchez, White, Molumby?

What about MacAllister, Lamptey, the two Polish lads? Lallana? All the above are a result of Ashworth’s work.

OP this is a disgraceful thread in my opinion. You’re just upset because in FIFA you’d have more points by now.

We know we have different views! However, how do you it’s a minority? I have no idea if I’m in a minority? By the way, I have never played FIFA in my life and also don’t remember ever wetting the bed. People are allowed different opinions and I don’t think it’s knee jerk when you look at Potters record over the past 18 months!

Oh f#ck. - I predict you will get pelters for for that post. That's a "Swedish Trump Twitter Post"

You are right to defend Potter and I admire that but attacking individuals won't endear you.

I don't think the OP is a million miles out on his synopsis. And if it turns out to be e an accurate assessment. Then Potter is culpable in letting someone intervene in team selection who has no accountability in any failings.

I like how brave Potter is in the way he plays but the players he has are not really good enough to carry it out and accrue the amount of points that the fans would like that style of play to accrue.

I hope he continues with his philosophy and you should 100% support your friend but to put a long standing fan down like that isn't very polite.

As I've said previously plenty of people go to watch a football teams for many other reasons than supporting the club. Obviously I dont know what type of individual you were in the past, but ever since joining this forum all you do is to puke out negative and often derisive about not only the manager but pretty much everyone working for the club you supposedly love. And you are notoriously absent when things go well.

I mean just look through your own post history.

Its littered with negativity, not only directed at Potter but at basically everyone on the team.

You've been absent from NSC one game this season. Against Newcastle. Why? Because there was nothing to complain about, nothing for you to love.

I think we are about equally unlikely to be here next year. Maybe Potter gets sacked, and I **** off. Maybe Potter turns the team into a decent mid table PL team, and you and a couple of other people in love with negativity lose interest and do the TSB.

I'm not trying to polite or endeared, and you'll find "personal attacks" in most threads on this forum, lets not pretend this is some kind of morally perfect bastion of unicorn shaped love and friendship. And I wouldnt want it to be, its good as it is - pure manlove. I get to hear about my pizza boxes, TottonSeagull gets to hear about his 24/7 negativity, and you... did you watch Celtic "Absolutely not shit" FC this week?

There seems to be a lot of ill feeling towards Potter a the moment but I really think people should look at the bigger picture

Dan Ashworth is the one pulling the strings on what style of football we play and was very positive on having Potter as Head Coach to play the style he wanted.

I also get the feeling the team selection has a big input from Dan aswell.

Yes Graham has made a few errors but I really think we should not forget Dan is allowing this to happen on his guidance.

Who's Dan Ashworth?
