Hopefully this will be allowed on The Big Board.

It's showtime. In parts of the world the match has formally kicked off and over a million goals have already been scored, but who will come top.

Will Sleepy Joe take the victory many predict or will Fake News Donald pull it out of the bag at the last moment? It's still too tight to call and we may not have a result for days. Much to the dismay of Americans, this could be like a Test Match Special, except with guns (we hope not).

No doubt most of us will not know the result until the wee hours, but for those night owls (and those around the world) shall we put the Trump thread to one side and use this to focus on Election night? After all, in the interests of parity, at least the thread has Biden's name in the title.

Let the votes be counted.

Trump has already stated that he’ll be sending the lawyers in after the voting closes.

This match thread could last quite some time, it’ll be like having VAR, only the decision takes a week.

All sorts of Republican scams going on via dodgy state courthouses to void votes. From disqualifying drive through voting through to disqualifying postal votes without a witness signature or those ballot papers that are not double enveloped (in the right order), the Orange team’s tactics are clear.

You can get Sleepy Joe for 1.63 on the exchanges. That is crazy, given his national ratings and even though it may be closer in some swing states, his implied chance would be more like 85-90% (more like 1.1-1.15 on exchanges.

Fortunately Biden voters are more likely to put their envelopes in the right order than Trump voters.

If this was an ordinary election, Biden walks it. I still think he will win, but I expect Trump to do almost anything to try and steal it.

Those of you who are planning to stay up late for some/all of it - what coverage are you watching?

I quite like watching the American programming for this - horrible glitzy logos and big primary colours everywhere. I want something centre-left (by US standards...) - recommendations?

My heart says one thing. My heads says another. It's been a crazy year so I'm not expecting anything usual about this.

Trump has turned politics into entertainment and so he'll be saving something to ensure that everyone stays tuned.

God help us all (never mind America)

Whatever happens, its going to be fascinating to watch. Personally, I hope Trump is dragged out the door kicking and screaming like a toddler...I despise that man.

Barricades are being built around the White House.

I don’t know who will win, because votes can go for Biden , but the Electoral College has the final say.

I will probably be watching CNN...not sure what else is available over here.

It's a bit like being asked if you rather be shot or stabbed to death. Both are absolute rubbish (and I lived through the Nixon era).

Michelle Obama must stand next time round and she would walk it.

I was contemplating it, but wondering how much merit there will be in pulling an all-nighter.

Sounds like CNN is for you.

What sort of *** Official Match Thread *** is this? Where are the match officials and more importantly, who is on VAR?

I'll start with VAR, Amy Coney Barrett expected to intervene at around the 89th minute regarding a potential foul on the postman.
