I think we said something similar about Sheffield United last year.

I know, but I think Bielsa takes fitness to level hitherto unknown. They were helped last year by the lockdown which enabled the players to recover sufficiently and pick up the intensity again for the final games of the season but I just think for the reasons I stated above that they will find it harder to do that this year.

Very sad for the Leeds fans that they aren't allowed to provide a noisy Elland Road backdrop for this team. By the time they're allowed back in you sort of suspect that they'll have faded a bit. Then again, maybe if they get to January and are in with a shout of a Europa League place, Radrizzani will invest again.

Sounds like some on here are Leeds supporters
Personally I dislike them as much as Palace ( true)
I only watch to see them get beaten... bollocks to ‘open expansive football’

I don't think they are Leeds supporters as such, just acknowledging that they have started well, above most posters expectations and that their matches, have on the whole, been entertaining .

Have they started above people's expectations? They've won two (against possibly the worst two teams in the division), lost two and drawn one. The only result that was unexpected was the draw (but then, some people may have expected them to beat Wolves). I think they're performing pretty much as expected; hardly anyone on here (if anyone) though they'd go down but nearly all thought they'd be bottom hallf.

I'll give you that their matches have been entertaining though.

Leeds outplayed Wolves and had the better chances. They have definitely performed well - how much of that is based on poor performances by opponents and inertia from their promotion season will be interesting to watch. Leeds are 10th, and based on their performances to date (using the chances they have created and conceded in the five games) suggests they should be 11th. So they are about on the nose. Villa should be 9th, and Brighton should be 5th.

We really need to start converting some of our bloody dominance.

The problem appears to be the defence. We've scored 9, with an xG of 8.56, so we're converting the clear chances we create. But we've conceded 11 (with an xGA of 6.47). We've probably been extremely unlucky here, or maybe our opponents have made the better of the half-chances they've had.

Things should even themselves out a bit over a whole season, but it's interesting looking at 19/20 - Liverpool massively out-performed their expected points (they should have finished second), and Newcastle should have been relegated! And if you look at 18/19, we should have gone down instead of Cardiff....

They were certainly a handful for Wolves for the first 20 mins. The saying "It's a marathon, not a sprint" comes to mind.
After about 30 mins Wolves seemed to have the measure of them and looked the most likely winners.

I'm not enough of a tactical brain to work out how to counteract Leeds unique approach but as they are seen more during the season I guess the element of surprise will be removed.
If they avoid injuries and can get Hernandez playing regular minutes they should be able to finish mid-table.
But we all know that there are no easy games in the Premier League and a few injuries will see them battling with about eight other clubs to avoid one of the three relegation spots.
- Pretty much the same as ourselves!
(although we know how difficult it is to stay up, compared to the Leeds fans who think they will finish in or near the top six).

I'm sure Bielsa is a genius and all that, but ultimately doesn't it just boil down to Muff's we'll score more than you approach?

After a while, Wolves sussed out that the Leeds fullbacks were bombing forward time and time again, leaving acres of space behind them. They just started pumping long diagonals in behind them for the likes of Neto (WHAT a player btw) and later Traore to run onto and exploit. With sheer quality like Jiminez up top it wasn't overly surprising to see them get caught out eventually.

Lovely stuff.

Their games have, by and large, been quite exciting. Two lots of 4-3 games already. But Monday's was a far more interesting one for me. They will undoubtedly struggle when teams sit back. Expect Palace to do well against them, for example. But their openness cost them against a Liverpool side thrashed 7-2 a few weeks later and nearly brought Fulham an unexpected come back.

This season will really test Bielsa and their mostly Championship standard players. Most of this division will give them a game end to end and the ones that don't will almost certainly rob them.

So why am I quoting your post? Because I think many on here commenting on their entertaining nature are stating the bleedin' obvious rather than brown nosing them. They will have to play like that. Without the fitness, the man marking, the lightning breaks they're just Ayling, Dallas and Bamford.

A tactic that will no doubt be replicated.

I never wish for a player to get injured, but tough to feel too sorry for Phillips, given he absolutely engineered the coming together that injured himself.

I suppose the Leeds fans are starting to realise what we all knew. It's a lot easier to look like a coaching genius when you are up against Danny Cowley or Lee Bowyer than Nuno espirito Santo who did an absolute number on them on Monday.

Sadly, I think there is enough about Leeds for them to be more than alright (My prediction is the green screens in horse racing parlance will be up around Fulham and West Brom long before the season is out) but they won't be troubling any European teams next season.
