We're talking about food safety, not food security.

I'd rather not eat chicken that has spent its short life walking through shit, if fact if we get it I won't be eating it.

You only have to look at Americans to understand their food, you are what you eat...

This is all a bit irrelevant anyway.

Chlorinated chicken is illegal in the UK.

The UK government has never shown any intention of changing that.

Not to mention that US animal welfare standards leave a lot to be desired.

The UK government hasnt shown much intention of being truthful about very much, if anything.

US Food safety score: 89.1

UK Food safety score: 80.9

I’m not sure if safety is intrinsically linked to quality and providence. Chlorine washed chicken might well be safer than a hand fed free range farm shop chicken. Which would you prefer to serve your family?

Right.

So the fact that there is no evidence in support of believing something, doesn't mean you shouldn't believe it, right?

Yeah this is kind of my point.

People start with the conclusion, "the government is evil", then work their way back from their.

If the facts don't actually matter to you, then maybe you should look at yourself before accusing other people of not caring about the truth.

I would think the majority of folk on here have at some time visited the US.

Did they starve themselves?

I won't have the choice.

Chlorine washed chicken is illegal in this country, nothing has changed about that.

There it is.

The government are evil.

The truth be damned.

The truth has indeed been damned. We know who by. And we know why.
That's the heart of the problem here, not the benefits or otherwise of chlorinated chicken.

This government, and those that lead it, has lied like no other before it. Blatently. Openly, Repeatedly. And without apparent shame.

As a relatively small country in comparison to the big trade blocks, brexit undoubtedly means we will have to bend over backwards a few times. This is one of them. What did people expect when they voted for it?

You've got this totally wrong.

It's forwards we'll be bending

Or any particular electoral repercussion. Which is why it will continue.

No. people start with the fact that this government has lied endlessly and blatently, and work back from there to a conclusion that we no longer believe what they tell us. You reap what you sow.

Lies can only get you so far. The bigger the lies the further you may get. But they will catch up with you eventually. As Trump is now discovering (hard to pull back lost support when most people don't believe a word you say) and as Cummings and his wealthy buddies will also eventually discover.

I'm afraid its all about trust. There are a increasing large amount of people thinking...

fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

Johnson has it in his DNA, whether its personal, professional or political, his success is built on lies. It will catch up with him in the end. More people will get hurt

Didn't this thread start with the assertion that the government had done something (reduce or remove food saftey standards) which they had infact not done?

You would also make a great politician.

Ah, so we've started another Brexit thread ? Super !

I thought this thread was about Food standards and Animal welfare, something that I know from your previous posts, you have very strong views on. I would have thought you may want the opportunity to share them again, while it's being discussed ???

You would make a great politician.

How do you know I am not?

I know enough decent politicians, that I do not take that as an automatic insult.

A key aim of the 'scorched earth' Cummings strategy has been to convince us to believe the populist lie that 'they are all as bad as each other'.
Which anyone with personal experience of working in politics knows to be a very long way from the truth. But it worked for him and his mates and seems to have worked on you.

So, let's recap.

You all believe that chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef should be banned in the UK.

Chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef has been banned in the UK.

Chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef continues to be banned in the UK.

Chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef will continue to be banned in the UK.

12 pages of outrage.

Conclusion: You are all morons.
