thats overplaying the significance of Supreme Court, they cant make law, just interpret what was intended or the outcome of edge cases. the Congress makes law and would block any of the outlandish theoretical moves. thats the whole point of the US system, no part has complete control.

After all is said and done America is very much a democracy and the Republican Party would not stand for any Trump playing big baby were he refuse to accept the result.

I was in Boston during the last election campaigning season and attended the Democrates rally and I also visited the government building again in Boston I asked the police are visitors allowed go straight is was the reply so after an airport type security check I was free to wonder the building no where appeared off limits I even walked into the Governors outer office where his sectary was happy to show us around she said we could meet the governor who was in the next office but for the fact he was currently meeting a delegation, I even had lunch in the building along with politicians judges and the Democrate candidate, it really was an increabable example of an open democracy everyone was polite and helpful I might post some photos of the visit from the Senit chamber and the Governors office if I can work out how managed one photo from outside the building but it won't let me load any more I will try later just need to get back to work

Until you stack the Supreme Court with people who owe you a favour, have the Attorney General in your pocket and sack all the heads of the intelligence agencies who don't agree with you.

Not sure I agree. With a supreme court weighted in your favour, the republicans can support cases that challenge previously made laws, eg Roe v Wade, Obamacare etc etc. If that wasn't the case, the GOP wouldn't be in such urgency to get a republican nominated and voted on before the election.

Up until a few years ago the appointment of these judges did not have the same significance despite them being political appointees. Look at how the Republican party has slowly swung behind Trump despite his quite obvious unsuitability for the job.

Now almost everything at every level is hugely politicised to the extent that there could well be major civil unrest whatever way the election goes, something utterly unthinkable four years ago.

its important of course, just not able to make laws and change constitution as implied. people seem to think there's a coup about to happen, overlooking the many pillars of US state that arent very keen on Trumpian style bombast. i wouldnt be at all surprised a Supreme court found against Trump in a close election, if the evidence isnt there to back him. he never actually did "drain the swamp", just stank the place out with his own smell.
