Not a pen, but the one shortly after was. Also agree if origional was a united player they wouldn't have even bothered to check and thus would have remained. Was shocking officiating all round all match.

Right decision, if we had conceded a penalty like that then I'd be a bit miffed .

The first foul was committed by Connolly when he tugged Pogba's shirt towards him.

Yet the referee was so biased against us today that he awarded us a penalty and booked Pogba.

As has been previously stated and seen on here if the incident occurred anywhere else on the pitch it is a foul therefore it's a penalty.
I hate criticising the officials and VAR but the game is slowly being ruined by petty decisions and the smallest of margins. Trying to make the game a science, it really should not be this complicated.

It was a tight decision but a penalty in my decision.

The ref gave it and if it's debatable , as it was, then the ref's original decision should stand.

You can watch it again and again and it's not clear.

It was very iffy and I wouldn’t have been happy if it was against us but as it was given on the field I think it was so marginal that it should have stood as I think the ref had a clear view.

For me, the second one (Maguire on Connolly) was more of a pen than the one that was given against Pogba.

I’d imagine that Aaron’s eagerness to go down, was fresh in the mind of the VAR men, and counted against him when it mattered.

If the first one was a penalty (which I thought was soft FWIW) then that should have been a pen too. They should at least be consistent. Not to mention, White was penalised and booked for similar.

I don’t personally think it was a penalty, however, had that have been Kane, Sterling, Salah etc it would have been given so I do feel aggrieved.

He runs in front of the defender into instigate potential contact. Nothing wrong with that. Shaw did exactly the same but worse in the midfield and they get a free kick and White gets booked. So where’s the fairness in that?
Exactly this, the ref had one vision today, Man U winning.
Why didn't he send Matic off, and why play over the extra time?

Their first goal 100% should not have stood, I still don't understand why it want reviewed, or if it was then it is clear bias. Was offside 100% and a foul on Dunk by Maguire.

There was so much wrong in that game from the ref, I feel for the boys and management team tonight, they are working so hard, but playing against 12 is not easy.

From the front view not a penalty from the rear it's a definite penalty Connerly gets a definite nudge from the thigh of his leading leg

In general Connelly goes to ground too easily

He certainly "looks for the contact", but that places him alongside pretty much every forward in the top flight.

I am concerned he'll have a bit of a reputation after today though, and that won't be helpful.

Pleased all the Match of the Day team have vindicated Connolly. Was an incompetent decision by the VAR official but even worse by the match official
