Its barely a subject here anymore, aside from football/culture attendances and foreign travel. Today or yesterday they showed the results of testing 2500 random people, no one got the virus.
Hopefully it stays this way.

Because even journalist can be inadvertently racist, Sweden is a European country, so they are like “us” all those others you mention are Asian and they do things differently, don’t you know.
Taking my flippant hat off or a while, it probably IS because Sweden are European and closer to home, so easier to make comparisons that the average man in the street can understand (racist or not}.

According to a report from WHO (feel free to find it, someone) there is a strong correleation between having unusually few influenza deaths the last 2-3 years and having a lot of Covid deaths this spring. Simply because that the normal seasonal influenza kills a lot of very vulnerable people, but if the influenza is mild a lot of those will survive until something else (like Covid-19) comes around to kill them. He said it was possibly part of the explanation why some countries experienced a lot more deaths than others. Sounds plausible to me.

The four per cent betterment of New Zealand only came at the cost of nearly 6,000 people. I am sure the economic situation in Sweden will be of comfort to their relatives and friends.

I remember seeing a video linked in here a week or so ago (I've lost all track of time now having been wfh since March) that had noticed the same thing across Europe. Those with a higher than average ifr from last winters influenza season got of lightly for the ifr from Covid, whilst those that had a lower than average ifr from influenza were hit really hard by Covid. I expect most people brushed the guy in the video off as a covid denying loon.

Again a huge amount of this was care homes which Sweden acknowledges it should have dealt with much better. Will be interesting to see how their death rates for other issues compares to ours where many people with cancer will die because of lack of treatment. Who knows they could end up in a better net position
I am sure regardless of if they are or not you will claim they are.

That's ok then.. I am sure that will ease the minds of those who have lost someone to Covid, to know there loved one gained a bit of extra time before dieing alone...
Its not about making something ok or not ok, its about finding scientific answers.

I dont see scientists seeing deaths as numbers as a/my problem, its pretty much their job in this case.
