Sorry, I know I’m new here but are we forced to read every single thread and participate? I thought Bozza gave us the freedom to pick and choose what threads we like and want to participate in.

Some people want to talk about Leeds. As long as it’s within the rules of the site and mods I’d say it’s none of your business to try and be board police.

Very strange comments. Freedom to participate, isn't that exactly what I am doing?

Possibly every single thread is none of my business and I do not read every one as I have that freedom to pick and choose.

This thread was as far away from talking about Leeds as possible. It was poking fun at a bunch of kids playing a football game and being heavily beaten.

Lovely stuff. The real question is of course what on earth are Leeds doing putting out a team of under-18s in a competitive game that is supposed to be U23s. One player on the Leeds side can legally drink. Their captain was 16 FFS. Hardly a learning experience to lose 7-0 to a professional men's team.

They lost 48-0 to St Helens last month. Surprised that hasn't been brought up.

It really does raise a few questions on the wisdom of putting out basically schoolboys in this competition. This could well have severely hit the confidence and that isn't going to help with development of that team. This is a competition that has prem and championship teams in as a development for the u23 and to give the whole competition a bit of an ommph . Fair enough putting a couple of the really good strong ones in, but not the whole team. No shame on losing to a team of adult professionals (as did Brightons team last night) but this really was a game of men v boys. Not sure what advantage was given to the Leeds boys, or the competitions credibility here . The excitement of playing their first senior game for the club has been turned from being a dream fulfilled to a nightmare enacted.

As per the below tweet, their excuse is that to use the U23 players, who are currently training with the first team, they would have had to have excused themselves from contention for the Liverpool game on Saturday. Whilst this is fine, it raises a couple of bad practice questions. Firstly, if you can't field a competitive team in your first fixture, why would you enter the competition in the first place? Secondly, if your first team squad isn't big enough to allow an U23 team to train on their own, you probably don't have enough depth to think a top-six place is possible. In short, it's not good enough. Leeds had to actively engage in this competition and submit their academy squad for contention in it. If that wasn't going to be possible, just don't bother.
