Chain your bike to the railings, block the pavement, buggering things up for pedestrians and other carriage users. Still, never mind, as long as we can chain our bikes where we like, to hell with everybody else. Hurrah for the Militant Cyclists League - world domination will be yours.

In fairness this is the easiest 'problem' to sort:-

CarbikePort-Tour3-768x576.jpg

Parking for 10

Or

Parking for 1.

Cycled Seaford to Brighton last year on a low rent but decent enough looking Giant hybrid, got to North Street, placed it against the bike racks opposite Barclays to lock it up, realised I'd left my lock at home, gambled on it, went and did some shopping, was away about 30 minutes and....here ends the yarn.

Think they should ban bikes on busy roads , they are dangerous to car drivers , and it’s dangerous for the cyclists .

Big assumption here that cycles are used daily. Not so. Many will be left chained and forgotten about for years possibly, causing a nuisance. Ask anyone in Amsterdam, Copenhagen etc. Ironically it seems bike owners want the same as car owners. To park outside own property, using a mode of transport immediately available and quicker than walking. You’re in a city. Get over it. Or walk, get the bus, a cab etc. Blimey, as if everything isn’t delivered anyway!!

A little homily from me for you. brother.

I was a penniless student when this tale is told.

I’d saved my money tirelessly for about six months for why? I had my eyes on a shocking pink US import diamond back mountain bike...back when shimano interlocking 18 gear matrices were VERY rare in the U.K. this bike was my north...my south...my steed.

Then one day I had to stop for about 5 seconds under the Preston park viaduct and, whilst my back was turned...someone had it away.

Anyway. I’m well, well pissed off but...two days later...my ex was driving up Dyke Road and spies some lad on..a bright pink rare U.S import diamond back mountain bike and follows it to an address off Preston Drove.

She comes home and tells me where it is, what he looks like and....off I go!

I get there, knock...no reply...through the letterbox I spy...MY FVCKING BIKE.

I call OB. Two CID come to my flat...off they go...about 15 minutes later they come back. Apparently the lad claims he’s never had a bike officer...who me? A thieving ****?.. no no no.

There’s nothing the cops can do. No warrant...no entry...no bike.

Sorry sir...we can’t help you..we agree you saw your bike inside this address...we agree the guy is dodgy...sorry...not interested.

I festered. I grew more aggrieved...I went round there 7 or 8 times knocked the guys door “where’s my bike you twat”

No answer.

Two weeks later. I’ve checked that the guy is still at that address because I’ve seen him going in.

Darkness falls.

I bricked the dickheads windows. His bay..his front door...his side window.

,
The police came that night. I’m arrested. No evidence. 5 hours at John St. no confession.

Worth every fvcking second.

Entitled twats, biggest hazard on any road in any country.

The biggest hazard on any road is people, doesn't matter what mode of transport. There are idiot car drivers, cyclists, lorry drivers, pedestrians, the one thing they have in common is that they are people and are idiots, absolutely nothing to do with their chosen mode of transport.

The sooner people realise this the sooner we can start having sensible conversations without resorting to name calling and sweeping he generalisations!

Yeh, a soft 80kg vehicle that generally travels at around 20 mph is far more of a hazard than a 1-2 t vehicle that accelerates to 30-40 mph in seconds.

all for cycling unless the cyclist chooses to look a bellend in tour de france attire.

Clip in pedals , gloves , lycra + accesories. It's like they are all trying to out do each other to look the most unattractive to women
