Graeme Smith works for Zippos circus as a clown and apprentice juggler.

You could not make it up.

Did just check his wiki page and this made me chuckle - the clown

‘On 21 November 2015, Smith travelled to the Ochilview ground for the away game against Stenhousemuir. Unfortunately for him, the match was actually a home fixture for Brechin, 83 miles away. He did make it in time to play, but the side still lost 2–1.’

I'm assuming his team were 1 nil up when he got there!

Mark Walton is a teacher at Merthyr College, and has also worked as a performance manager for Wales Cricket.

I assume he wasn't a fielding coach or a wicket keeper.

Always interesting to think what lower league players do when retired, I'm thinking league 1 and below, where yes you earn decent money for a twenty something but likely not enough for a comfortable life after football retirement.

Starting a brand new career in your mid thirties with mortgage, bills and kids must be tricky when you are used to a higher income. Its not like you can just walk into another £70k job when you retire from a league 2 career

Quite a lot make their way to non-league and go semi pro while they set up a new career. I follow brackley town very closely in national league north and we have had quite a few examples of players recently. For example luke graham who played centre back in the league for Luton decided to focus on his next career so went part time and started lecturing at an FE college. For the last 18 months we had Carl baker who must have played champo for about 200 games for Coventry, Mk, Portsmouth (possibly others too) and he plays part time while he sets up a football academy.

In fact I know quite a lot of the players quite well and they actually choose to be part time footballers. They will earn more from football and a career than they would make as a league 1 or 2 footballer, and they have a career lined up. Obviously there are some who think they could be the next Jamie Vardy, but most of them are blokes who have careers and are lucky enough to get paid to do their hobby!

I have heard some horrible stories about players from league 1 and 2 who have nothing when they get their career ended which can happen at any age. It is a brutal world.

Funny this thread should come up, I read an old article about Gavin Geddes just yesterday.

Bit of a strange chain of events, and I don’t know how I missed it at the time, it appears to have been quite a well publicised fall from grace.

I signed him on to play for Horsham reserves twenty years ago, only played a handful of games, then buggered off.

Paul Reid is with Sydney FC....

“Meanwhile, Reid - who was on Sydney’s books in 2012 - replaces club great Terry McFlynn as football director and will also fill the assistant coaching chasm left by Ufuk Talay’s departure to Wellington Phoenix.
Having played in the UK for Brighton and Bradford, as well as Wollongong, Adelaide United and Melbourne Heart in the A-League, the 39-year-old has been with NSW NPL side Rockdale City Suns since 2013.
During that time he has transitioned from playing into coaching.
The twice-capped Reid has also kept his hand in with the Sky Blues in a community football officer role.
The new job-sharing gig, working alongside head coach Steve Corica whilst helping coordinate player recruitment and retention, is a significant step up.”

Stuart Myall is a teacher at Gildredge House school in Eastbourne. Or was, as of 2019.

Stuart Tuck works at Varndean School as a "PE Technician", whatever that is https://www.varndean.co.uk/staff

Newmarket.
I just pulled into a petrol station and on the next pump was banger racer #107-Zamora Racing on a trailer towed by a shonky old white transit.
Could be.
But I doubt it.
