Webster now has the one thing he had missing ... confidence. Looks a different player than he did in the middle of last season.

March is missing exactly that which is stopping him from being a decent player, he has ability and the skill.... he just doesn’t believe it.

This - need to find one as Gross is not the answer based on previous form.

No great fan of Gross' contributions over the past 18 months but he looked steady and assured today - maybe he has a role to play in as an older head in a more younger squad

I think i'm in a minority here, but I personally think Veltman will start more games that Lamptey this season, however I can see this as our most common sub. After 65 mins the tiring oppo full back realises Lamptey is coming on for him to deal with. Demoralising

Cheer up.It won't be that bad.

Two unconvincing pens in a row from Neal. Very convincing from Pascal ... but will he be on the pitch when the pens come along?

If there's another one in preseason, Maupay should take it again. If he scores, he kind of resets his account. If he misses, too bad, someone will have to do it next season.

I just saw the penalty on replay, it looked pretty good to me? Just over of those where the keeper goes the right way

Agree. I thought it was better than the one he scored against Everton. That was poor

When I last watched Steven Alzate pre-lockdown he physically looked like a teenager, today he looked as though he's morphed into a big strong unit.

He's going to be a great player.

What did the condition of the pitch look like to those that were there? I watched on the Albion tv thing and it seemed a bit scruffy with bare patches in the goal mouths? Every time I see other PL pitches on tv they look immaculate. Maybe the stream didn’t do it justice?

Was cutting up easily, a few players slipped, including Walton unfortunately as he came down.

Did AJ get on then? Must have missed that - I got a bit lost at the end (not at the ground, just following on tele). So does that mean that the only player in the squad who didn't get on was Gyokeres?

He had the last half hour, i thought it was Maupay a couple of times

I'd add that with more pace elsewhere in the starting line up his lack of pace can be carried better and he can be a very incisive passer with runners going past him.

March was very good today, he’s got the ability to be a very good player, just lacks consistency.
I was impressed with all of the kids, none of them looked out of place.
Reece James is a horrible sh¡t.

Have been saying for three seasons that he needs to be played as a left wing back. It’s his natural position. I thought he looked very comfortable playing it today, and until all the subs I thought the whole structure of the team was spot on. All players were playing in their right positions which I didn’t get a sense of at any time last season.

Just need a stronger striker as the final piece of jigsaw for me if we are to properly challenge top half.

Looked great prior to the game but grass cut very tight. And yes south goal had a worn patch by the end.

Having not read the whole thread I might be against the majority but I thought it was great to see Walton coming out and catching crosses and Sanders looked great.
