Isn't every manager who gets their team promoted a good manager? What's made Leeds any different?

I would call Marseille, nine times winner of Ligue 1 and former Champions League winners, a pretty big team. And Athletic Bilbao, eight times winner of La Liga and a regular in Europe aren't exactly small fry either.
He's got a decent record but Potter's is better and he hasn't had the benefit of managing a top team.

He seems like their version of Poyet. A big name who changes the direction of a club and get (almost) everyone buying into his way. Great while it lasts, but we shall see. PL is very unforgiving as Poyet found out at Sunderland.

Wow. Leeds really have lost their way. Even after promotion, you're licking the arse of clubs bigger and better than you. Your manager got you promoted. He obviously has done well for you and you have every right to respect him, but come on, you're a Prem team now, how about acting like one instead of trolling other teams forums, posting stuff about Guardiola and Bilic. Why do you care about them? You're Leeds. Don't forget that.

I wonder just how many of those 42 wins with Argentina were against the likes of Ecuador, Chile, Guatemala and the likes, and the odd play off against New Zealand or someone. Against the big boys he came unstuck, so maybe not that good a record
Marseilles haven't won Ligue 1 since 2009-10 (long before Bielsa) and Bilbao last won La Liga in the 1980s. Not quite sure they were "big teams" - in terms of winning trophies - when the Bucketman was there.
(I did have to check when Marseille last won the championship and interestingly Wiki entry has a sub-heading "2014–2015: Bielsa era and stagnation"

Potentially?! That is an insult to him. No, HE IS a very good manager, no potential about it. He's brilliant.
Don't understand the downplaying of him on here, there is a lot of contradiction. A lot of people are saying that Leeds have a very poor squad with average players and yet he's managed to comfortably win the Championship, which everyone acknowledges is a very hard league to get out of, with that same squad.

Judging by their fans reaction to having to say goodbye to Ben White, it looks like he played a huge role in their success. A role they can't replace.

Everton got nine titles as well and Nottingham Forest won the European Cup. It says very little.
Any coach of any team are going to play against weaker sides every now and then, so yeah a lot of those wins were probably against other South American teams.
There's also far less blueberry countries to inflate the numbers than in Europe. Ecuador beats the shit out of Liechtenstein, Malta, San Marino, Andorra, Gibraltar etc. seven days a week and even the second tier blueberries of Europe (like Latvia, Northern Ireland, Macedonia and so on) would be dead last in the South Ameircan qualifier.
Funny you mention Chile as a shite team since they also had Bielsa as manager, winning 51.5% of their 66 games.

I don't think Leeds will ever win anything with him but they will be involved in loads of entertaining games.
Bielsa is box office for the neutrals.
If I were a Leeds fan I'd just try and enjoy the ride while it lasts. He'll likely be gone by this time next year.
My own personal thought is that I think Leeds will be in the usual massive relegation scrap with about 12 other sides (us included) that doesn't start becoming any clearer until about Easter.
The new generation of Leeds fans don't seem to have had their expectations managed by the more experienced Leeds fans, which has left me realising that they could well be in for a nasty shock. It's going to be fun to watch the idiots amongst them when they start turning.

Yup. No option to vote for really, he is a great manager but if I vote yes, I vote that "he is the Messiah" which is something else.

Marseille won the league four years before Bielsa was there - I'd scarcely call that a long time. Marseille are pretty much a top five team every season. As you say, the one they didn't was when Bielsa was there.
People talk about Arsenal being a top club in England, despite the fact they haven't the title for a decade.
