Reading the thread title I thought C5 had decided to bring a certain show back with Liam taking the Davina role.

Last week l had cavity wall insulation put into my house. On completion of the job the operator asked me to sign a form to confirm the job had been done to my satisfaction. When l looked at the form it had his name on it, Nat Bridcutt.

That led me to ask the inevitable question, are you any relation? to which he replied, yeah Liam is my baby brother. A lengthy conversation ensued about his transfer to Sunderland, when he said that the entire Bridcutt family begged Liam not to follow Gus up north, and that no good would come of it, and so it was proved.

Poyet and Liam have since had a major falling out, he said that a rift very quickly built up with Liam and Will Buckley on one side, and Gus Poyet on the other. Both players blame him for destroying their careers. A tad strong l think, considering they both could have stayed at the Albion.

Liam has just signed for Lincoln City in Leagee 2, that says it all really.

Next you'll be saying that you've had your tax returns done by a friend of Glenn

Bridcutt looked like he was going to be a decent player until he started believing it too.
Buckley was a decent player but if he was pet you’d want your money back from the breeder.

Both capable of so much more than they showed at Sunderland. Not sure it would have been entirely Gus but also the broader sh*t that was enveloping the club behind the scenes, but both made a big mistake moving up there and Gus was to blame for poaching them.

Shame when a player's career tanks because of the wrong environment.

And yet on this podcast, Poyet told a club (Betis?) they could call any player that had played for him and they would say how good he was, good job they never called Liam or Will then :lolol:

Poor old Buckley's career was hamstrung by his hamstrings.

No his head.

He once was substituted first half at the Amex injured holding his hamstring. By the time I sat in my car at the end of the game he’d declared himself fit for the next game.

I heard from a player( no names) Poyet was a bit of a bully and apart from a Clique he wasnt as liked as you may have thought more feared.

Didn't Vicente describe him as "the worst man he'd ever worked with in football" not long after he left us? Seem to remember him being appalled at players being berated and belittled during training.

It was a real shame though.

Bridcutt especially was outstanding and if he'd been a little more careful about his career decisions he could've achieved so much more. He was an automatic pick. Off the top of my head I can't think of an Albion regular who's made a worse career move.

Problem with Buckley was that you just never knew if he would be fit enough for the next game - you can't plan tactics round that.

Interesting, thanks.

Does anyone know where Charlie Oatway is these days? He tagged along with Poyet for years, are they still a double act?

Wouldn't be the least bit surprised tbh, he wasn't the only one at our club around that time either from what I've heard. As for Poyet's comments on that podcast, handfuls of salt required imho because, after all, they are discussing Poyet's favourite subject, himself.

Oatway has been back around Sussex for quite a bit I think - not sure what he has been up to. Shame he decided to go Team Gus rather than Team Albion, but again not sure his face would really fit where we are at now
