Are you a Leeds fan? You don’t seem to grasp business sense here (and we both agree Tony is a don with business). Again think about it:

Are you a Leeds fan? - Dumb question..

- why would we sell for £30m? - Thats a great profit for a player whose head may well have been turned by Leeds and who may not want to play for us anymore and who may be a disruptive personality in the dressing room.

You keep on saying, or assume that’s enough, why?- Question makes no sense.

Are we desperate for money? - With Covid and a probably minus 60% gate or possibly no attendances next season absolutely yes.

- why would we sell an asset who is under contract for that price, when his value could potentially double after 1 season? - Because the asset doesn't want to play for us. Because another club including a top 6 offers enough to get TB interested enough.

Or if he becomes a superstar even more? - What is your point?

- why is it in our interests to strengthen a relegation rival? - Perhaps they won't be a relegation rival? Perhaps they will. Doesn't matter whether they are or are not. If they are it means White isnt doing well!

I M O I don't think Leeds could afford him. That squad needs money spent on it just to secure safety, Leeds fans thinking that they will be top 10 is laughable with the squad they have.
Unless they are going to spend the entire premier tv money for their first season back.

You can't predict what will happen next season, just look at Sheffield United. Anything is possible!

Well, if an on-loan centre half is celebrating promotion, there can be no doubt that he'll be joining that club next year can there? Who's that behind Sidwell & Kayal again?

Funnily enough I was thinking of Tomori earlier today, and as someone else pointed out Pocognoli was also on loan from a PL club.

Leeds need a striker first and foremost. Bamford has proved he is not PL quality. An upgrade on him won’t be cheap, clubs know the dirties will be desperate to buy an improvement so, they will have to pay a ‘desperate’ tax.If they really only have 50 million to upgrade their existing squad, I can’t see anything but a long hard struggle for them this season. A striker or two must be their first priority.

If White is more interested in staying with us he would not have been doing this. Yes he's signed a contract but it means nothing if enough money is offered -

Complete nonsense. He's entitled to celebrate. The contract means nothing? In terms of employment law it certainly doesn't mean nothing.

We can dig in and keep him here even if offers are made, we can leave him to languish on the bench if he doesn't want to sign a new deal with us. He can go back to the U23s, you don't take that position with TB and come out on top.

You're as confused as the Leeds fans.

Meanwhile, throughout all of this Ben White has maintained a very dignified silence. ( At least as far as I know. )

Surely his feelings and interests will play the major part in his future. He will of course have bonded with the Leeds players and fans. He has experienced the highest high with them

He would be a central part of their premier league team while at Brighton he would not be assured of a starting position, at least to begin with.

If Leeds could come up with the requisite fee, if we could get sell on conditions, and if he wanted to stay with them then it would probably happen.
If a top six club came in with a huge offer for him, then that would probably happen. And probably a loan back to Leeds.

If none of the above happens then we have a wonderful asset challenging for a first team place next year.

One way or another it is a great situation for Brighton for a player who this time last year was hardly known to the huge majority of us.

Leeds might want him, but they can't/won't offer the £40-£50M it would take, so he will be here next season (unless someone else comes in with that kind of offer).

We made a point of refusing to give Leeds the option to buy at the end of his loan, even to the point of holding up the loan deal, for a reason. We don't intend to sell him.

Looking back, the most that a club has contracted a Championship only player for is Albion for Webster. £30m alone would be nuts for a player with no EPL experience. I'd say he's coming back. Even if a bigger club comes in they would need to sign him with a view to going straight into their first team.

I think he's starting for us in September.

Putting delusion to one side in the cold light of day and as always Brighton have acted with calm precise words and doused the fire with a simple statement of fact.

There is no way Brighton, haven't kept in touch with White and Leeds, watched him regularly, and all parties do not know the outcome at the end. Leeds will have a relationship with Brighton that has facilitated the loan, they are not about to sully that by publicly getting into an open war for his signature. Well I hope not anyway. While their fans maybe the most deluded arrogant fans in the Premier League since er.... Villa's their management will be professional and respectful of the fact we have loaned them a talented player. It's not a surprise to anyone we refused a loan to buy agreement or that they wanted it. That alone dismisses most of Leed's Fans tweets that they made him and we didn't know anything about him.

I just think the fact GP said it in his presser today is very very telling.

If there any doubts over Bens future it’d be platitudes at best or a “no comment” (which he has said before). He was very very definite that he’s happy he’s our player, everyone wins and he’s looking forward to him joining the group next season.

This is as close as we’ll get to official confirmation, I’m now expecting news of a new contract in the window.

Or a negotiating tactic

A manager wouldn't pay £30m+ for a player then loan him out to another club. Well, Brendan Rogers, maybe... :lolol:

I would argue this, given his performances at Newport and also the fact he had already played for us in the cup previously. I would think it would be a minority that weren't aware of him.

You may recall Leeds were desperate to insert a 'buy' clause at the end of the loan, but understandably we refused.

Rest of the quote difficult to argue with.

Hardly known to us, you say? I had to trawl through several Ben White threads before I got this one from three years ago regarding his loan to Newport County.
Maybe you haven't taken much notice but he was well known on Nsc and to those who look out for our youth.
