[Sussex] Your Favourite Town Or Village In Sussex

As a resident of 20+ years, it's not a terrible pub - it used to be better under previous ownership but not the worst place to stop. Tried becoming more of a gastro-pub than a drinking hole which lost some of its charm.
Personally i'd carry on the A283 and stop at the White Hart on Stopham Bridge - lovely place to sit by the river in the summer.

On-topic, being a west sussex native i've got a lot of love for a few places:

Sutton (great pub there and nicely nestled away)
Petworth
Fittleworth (naturally)
West Chiltington (I know i've made it when I can afford a house there)
Amberley
Wisborough Green (though it does give off the occasional Midsomer vibe)
Southwater (before all the development anyway)
Christs Hospital
Barns Green
Still got a soft spot for Billingshurst, but it's sadly a bit of a ghost town now

Brighton, first last and forever....l loved walking in the lanes, pottering in North Laine enjoying the sea ,walking the seafront on wild days, exploring the marina.... It has a vibrancy,a pulsating beat that motivates you to enjoy life, and of course it is full of memories.
It also has the best football club in the land....

I ran the Aber for the owners from 89-92 (ish) just as he built those two houses and got the big extension out back.. all good for while but HMRC caught up with him and took it all away..

Obviously knew a lot of the locals, and when ever i've dropped back some of the local characters can still be propping up the bar.. sure we prob know the same ones..! Pete the pirate, Dazzy-B and Lenny, Baz the fisherman, Dave the tractor-driver..

Loads of stories from back then and all..

Trivia fact - the landlady of the Abergavenny was on Ken Bruce's "Popmaster" last week - and won!

Ran the Barns Green half marathon last year which starts and finishes in the villiage and takes in the local countryside. It is absolutely stunning and there was a really nice vibe about the actual green and cricket club. However, it did make me think you'd need a footballer's salary (or maybe a CEO's) to live there. Posh.

Eridge is very much in Sussex even though postal address for Eridge Park is Kent. Kent border is on the edge of T Wells.

I was just about to say the same, Kent is about a mile up the road. I often run out of TW and always feel a sense of freedom as I pass the Sussex sign and head off to the beauty of Broadwater Forest - itself an absolutely beautiful part of Sussex. I never feel quite so happy running back up the hill and crossing the border, but I always tell myself that actually the real geographical border (as opposed to the political one) is another 2 miles away down by the Pantiles. If you’re on the southern side of the River Grom, you’re in Sussex!

The quiz night at the pub is very good, once a month I believe, be nice to get back there.
I was told the one of the pub owners was on Radio 2 Pop master this week.
I can't say I know any of the locals from the pub, but I have seen a couple of characters every time I've been there.
The pub is doing takeaway food now and we got some there last week.

Yep, font of all knowledge are pub managers..! - (Can't say i know them of course)

Too many to choose from I reckon. I've seen some amazing little villages & places around the county the last few years when out on the bike, or on walks. I just love the whole place...proud to be Sussex born & bred.
