I think things have changed from a few years back. There are posters who register simply to try to impose their left wing/right wing propaganda and who never post anything about the Albion or indeed football. This takes away done if their influence. Personally I think it's good to hear other people's viewpoints but many of these whichever side of the divide, have no intention of listening to anyone else who doesn't agree with their world view, and furthermore I object to being preached at by people who have come to our forum but who have never and have no intention of ever, setting foot in the Amex.

At a stroke, this has killed the attraction of NSC to the Trotskyite professor from Dublin. The UK revolution will have to wait.

Go in there and look at the threads, these threads ALWAYS end up the same. Any thread remotely related to anything political, Brexit or BLM ends up in a total binfest. These threads get so toxic that I personally think the bear pit is the correct place for these ‘discussions’... well I say discussion, more like monkeys throwing shit at each other but you know what I mean.

Professor of origami.

1001 to 18 is the current ratio of viewers of NSC versus the shite hole.

If it carries on like this I forsee never having to put anyone else on ignore, ever. The dweebs can stay there, though.

To run with your analogy - should you and a few other folk, ruin the atmosphere in the pub, by insisting on continually engaging in loud, angry and unpleasant circular arguments, again and again and again, the landlord would understandably tell you to go elsewhere.

My bear pit analogy is that it's like Wetherspoon's during the daytime in the week - you know who's in there and what you'd expect if you went in - so fill your boots or avoid.

In the words of Alan Partridge - it's clear and simple.

Unless it is a video of some fat lads doing the 'hold me back' dance, filmed from a council flat window or from behind a policeman.

Incidentally, has arch but faux socialist, Ernest, banned himself?

Yes probably a fair point. That says more to me about the moderation than anything else though. If people are derailing the board who have no interest in the Albion (from the left or right) then they should be permanently banned. I do appreciate it is tough to keep on top of and a challenging line to draw.

What would be proper NSC style is if we could get a thread with a poll about the bear pit, into the bear pit itself. Bearpitception.

I like it how quite a few ‘lefties’ or anti-racists, such as yourself, are loving the new NSC with the sidelined Bear Pit.

Contrary to what your Alt Right detractors might say, imho you didn‘t post in those threads to grandstand, or to post relentless diatribe against all things Tory. You posted to challenge racism, antisemitism or homophobia, along with your general musings from 8 Acacia Drive, Faversham (PPF immediately looks it up on google maps :lolol:).

It's got to work surely. Currently there's 20 numpties reading about or defending the right of a plane that flew over The Eitihad a couple of days back. I bet immigrants and benefit claimants take the piss too though.

I'm going to bed, but it seems to be thus far a resounding 'for' in favour of the new modus operandi.

One of the joys of NSC was that everything was in one place IMO. It was pretty clear what you were getting form most threads so not sure a separate forum entirely was the answer. Feels NSC has lost something for me. Judging by the poll results i’m evidently in the minority though

I hear what you're saying, DMC. We've both been here a while. There is certainly a difference. But think of it as an evolution of NSC and a necessary evil.

In the old days, we had the likes of Dave The Eagle, Taffy and Watford O fouling up the board. Not great, but they were clearly outsiders and we defended our Albion turf as one.

These days, with the exception of the odd Palace goon that occasionally forgets which board they're on and doesn't act accordingly, it's more likely to be some of us who claim an allegiance to the Albion, but prove with their actions that they're far less interested in the football than in antagonizing other posters.

Whatever one's particular political persuasion and colour of rosette, that's a thoroughly depressing thought.

It's better that these folk are in their own area of the NSC playground where they can troll, bicker and argue far away from the majority of us who just want to get along.

From a personal point of view, fantastic having the threads off the main board away from temptation. Some may have better self control than me, but some of the vile things that get posted I find difficult to let go. More than happy the controversial threads are on a sub forum.

it's an idiotic, stupid and moronic idea. NSC is of course primarily a football discussion board but for the nearly 20 years it's been around we've discussed everything and everything has been on one single board. I get the 'Other Stuff' board to prevent Google wetting their bed but other than that, until recently, one single board. I'll even begrudgingly accept the Covid sub-forum ( no idea why though ) as it's accessible from the Main Board. I've said many times before that NSC is like a virtual pub - albeit without the drinks ( the Friday night drinkies thread excepted ). You would have to go into a separate room in the pub to discuss a different topic - so why here ?

What next on trying to move non-football threads - lets have a separate forum for all these ridiculous music threads - you know the one's like "Name your favourite band that went on stage in wellies". Or maybe we could have a "Crap non-football Sports Thread" and get rid of the golf, running and NFL threads ?

90% of thread titles make the subject matter obvious and yet you still get the morons posting in them "This isn't about football so why is it here ?" - well don't fvcking click on it and comment in it you moron.

The Bear Pit is a shit idea.

You didn't say how you voted in the poll. I'll assume neutral.

The Bear Pit is a fantastic idea, I’ve already noticed that several posters have all but disappeared from the main board, with the exception maybe of discussions about the pit.

It reduces our work moderating and makes NSC far more welcoming for casual and new posters.

As far as I’m aware no one has changed their views or respected those of others with different opinions on Brexit, politics, BLM or milk before the water on a tea bag so those threads all become broken records very quickly.

Anyone who puts the milk in with the teabag before the water, deserves their own subsection where they can be alone with their thoughts to think about what they have done. :censored:
