Ooh no, the Chinese government lied and around the world hundreds of thousands of people have died. The Chinese government is solely responsible.

Thought I'd unblock you for a moment.

Sometimes I get the urge to punch a complete stranger very hard in the face...

Well, TBF, if the Chinese government had clamped down on their wet markets, and passed and enforced draconian laws to outlaw the human consumption of bats, rats, cats (including coronavirus infected tigers), pangolins, spiny ant-eaters, monkeys, aardvarks and any other random mammals that failed to scuttle past the abattoir fast enough, we may not have had this problem ........?

Don't start being fair. Now is not the time. The time to be fair is when we start on recriminations.

Sounds like you have the proof and evidence, are you going to sue?

Or the same market would have occurred underground (its still possible despite their new fancy surveillance society) and the disease could have gone unnoticed for a longer time, causing more harm. From everything I've read China seems to be pretty keen on getting rid of these wildlife markets but they are also quite keen on avoiding them splitting in to smaller, black markets spread all over some regions. Its a pretty delicate (maybe, havent tried pangolin) problem.

Isn't that a bit like after-timing?

No. Aftertiming is when we pretend later to have been right, previously.

Recriminations is when we kick, very hard, in the bollocks, people who had no clue whether they were right or wrong at the time, but bullshitted us, lied, and plotted and schemed to benefit themselves as they saw fit, at the expense of the rest of us.

And as you know, I don't think there has been much of that, even from Boris the Liar.

But there will be a tribunal...
