So this officially restricts all travel for leisure / holidays? It's still not coming across very clearly is it? So don't go on holiday / to second homes, but what about people going out for the day for leisure purposes?

Nothing better to do seems harsh. As I stated I'm interested in the figures. I'm worried as stated about my elderly mother with breathing issues and my partner and daughter who are both considered very high risk. Once again I apologise for being interested and worried but I'm certainly not doing it cos I'm sat around with nothing better to do and resent that suggestion. Like yourself I'm terrified right now and more so once lockdown inevitably comes as I will have people in 2 separate locations I need to support

My apologies, quite frankly I am scared shitless...

Not directed at you but I keep reading people saying this and it just shows you how dumb society has become, they’ve clearly said they don’t want to restrict leisure activities because it’s important for people’s health to be able to leave the house and get some fresh air, are people so unbelievably stupid that they need exact instructions, everyone knows the 2 meter guidance in place at the moment, that doesn’t just go away because you are in a park.

How stupid actually are people? Government guidelines are clear, you can go out but keep distance and avoid large groups, they wouldn’t need to enforce total lockdown so soon if utter morons didn’t brazenly ignore obvious instructions.

They are still actively pursuing the discredited herd immunity strategy, even though they claim not to be.

What a bunch of liars.

A Doctor on Twitter said that of everyone froze for a fortnight with everyone six feet away then the virus would be all but gone at the end of it.

It’s this simple. Restrict contacts means fewer cases means that ultimately life returns to normal. Those who flaunt the rules are just prolonging this agony and they could be killing people too.

Just got our frontline key worker travel email passes through so, and it’ll be no surprise to anyone, we are expecting lockdown in the next few hours. Which, if you are abiding by the advice anyway, will make almost zero difference but will hopefully make this all a bit easier.
Good news for key workers too, as we want to travel with as few people around as possible to reduce the risk of infection on our journeys.

And if this does happen, a big "thanks" to the tens of thousands of utter bellends who thought they'd treat yesterday as an unofficial Bank Holiday.

Quite. Though I wonder if it would have happened anyway?
I have up on my walk yesterday as it was impossible to distance. I’ll stick to the garden for my fresh air from now on.

Just had to go into Tesco Durrington to get a prescription + some nurofen for a pulled muscle in my shoulder/neck!

Think panic buying has settled down, stocks were full of fresh product - loads of fruit & veg with long dates. Only thing that looked completely empty was Eggs, Milk, Flour and fresh meat was pretty decimated.

Brief respite before payday.

Interested to know if this means that only key workers will be allowed to travel.and how I will then be meant to do anything to get food to my mum or help her in anyway. Reading this post you seem to be suggesting nobody else will be allowed to go out be it for shopping or caring roles which is a far harsher lock down than elsewhere

would hope there will be some process to register as a carer and permit to travel. worse case they become responsibility of the care network being put in place.

The simple truth, is everyone is second guessing what the government will do. My guess is it won't be a total lockdown - yet - probably just more advice!

I hope I'm wrong...

Quite. I think that they’ll want to monitor social distancing today (a ‘working’ day) and compare it with yesterday. Maybe we’ll have a lockdown just before the weekend.

reckon few more layers of advice to come yet + see results of latest restrictions ... unsure what hoping for

Think they are starting to look pretty weak now

Sorry, did not mean to alarm. All I know is we have been advised to prep for a fuller lock down that will be enforced.

My understanding is that essential trips for food, medicines etc will be allowed.
Sorry if my wording caused alarm. I have no doubt that people will be able to travel for all essentials but that the measures will stop people just jumping on a bus for a day out. Which I’m hoping people have already stopped doing.
As I say, those abiding by the existing advice should notice very little difference. I am not “in the know” and only going under advice from work.
Apologies, did not mean to be alarmist.

Just been on amazon looking at fitness equipment as obviously gyms are closed, luckily enough I already have lots of equipment but the extortion going on is absolutely disgusting quite frankly, obviously you expect people to try and cash in but to the degree that’s happening on Amazon it’s a joke.
