Don't " do " Twitter, what started as light fun, brevity and a degree of minor outrage has metamorphosed in to a rancid binfest of hate and diatribe. I'm not on it and never will be.

How do you know then :)

I'm winding you up - I'm on it, and as long as you don't Follow the wrong people, and fill your Following list with football people, comedy people and dog video people, it's pretty peachy. Block the occasional person who intrudes with politics; you can add words to a filter list (mine has Trump/Farage/Hopkins/Brexit etc) and you really never see stuff that's awful.

I get most of my chuckles from there (and here) at the moment.

I sometimes click on the Twitter links posted up on here on my lap top, that's how I see the carnage and abuse that goes on. Plus, often listen to James O'Brien on LBC and he often references people have posted something malicious or offensive about him but blocked him from replying. I get the distinct feeling that it is a Bear pit with no rules. So, my only regular look at Twitter is when I type " Donald Trump Twitter " in to my search engine, that's usually the only laugh I get out of Twitter.

Twitter is better at deleting posts and banning people, than Facebook. Hopkins got a temporary ban recently.

Mrs V has just arrived home and I informed her that Prince Philip has died " again " … she replied " He's probably floated this himself as he hasn't had hardly any publicity since the Harry/Meghan business blew up."

Mrs LLF is friends with a woman who’s daughter works at Buck House.

So has this information come directly from your wife's, friend's, daughter's work colleagues?

Or...

Has your wife told you some crap from twitter and she also happens to know someone, who has a tenuous connection to people who might know something, but are probably just talking to each other about crap they've read on twitter?

Oh it goes on, but I suppose as with all social media (and you're right when you said how Twitter has changed) if you're on it, you have to be proactive at managing how you consume it. If you only followed North Stand Chat, I daresay you'd die of boredom (!) but you also wouldn't see the conspiracy theories and misinformation that you'd be inundated with if you also followed someone like Alex Jones. It is what it is, and if we were young whippersnappers, it'd be exciting to 'connect' with bands/actors/comedians in a way we could have only dreamt of in the 80s.

Very wise....

Checking Twitter,
there are a lot of references to a quote he allegedly made in 88 " If i were to be reincarnated, I would like to come back as a deadly virus" along with lots of comments such as - "has anyone checked he's alive".

Could be where this rumour started?

It was a seminal moment when I heard that Stephen Fry had abandoned Twitter because of abuse, if he couldn't take down the trolls, no one can.

He has had a spectacular innings. Bright as a button when I heard him on a tv show not so many years ago too. Sad news if true but I don’t think he has been in great health over the last year or so?

Have a soft spot for him and the queen personally. The rest of the family can do one as far as I am concerned

I like Kate and Wills as well.

Sad news if true - RIP.

I guess they are dull but safe unlike most of them. Phillip has always made me smile/cringe and the Queen has put the country before everything, have to admire and respect her...imo

I only do NSC. I haven’t died of boredom yet but I’ve had my moments!
