O'Brien is right though, we should not blame individuals for being hoodwinked, the cocaine using minister who said " The day after we leave, we hold all the cards " is the one to blame among others.

I agree
Once the hard truth of Brexit emerges we need to support disappointed Leave voters (those with integrity) and not vilify them...... hopefully together we can then condemn this mendacious government and its lying leader.....

So it's an easy one - no graft required from Johnson at all. He can put his feet up.

Which is why it'll end up with No Deal as if there's one consistent about the whole Brexit process it's that Johnson has always opted for the easiest option.

Campaign to become PM and deal with the thing you helped create? No, much easier to wait it out on the backbenches.
Take the Chequers Deal which was thrashed out and help to sell it to the die-hard? No, much easier to resign and then whinge about betrayal in your weekly Telegraph column.
Arrange a deal with the EU which can also get through Parliament? No, much easier to shut down Parliament and try and force No Deal through.
Put in a position where you can't No Deal, time to do some serious negotiation on a new deal? No, much easier to just give in to all the EU's demands.
Arrange an extension so it can be scrutinised and debated properly? No, much easier to try and cram it into a couple of days.
Come up with strategies for the new deal you want post-Brexit? No, much easier to ignore the whole thing and let the clock run out.

I agree. However the individual concerned appears to be someone with entrenched, unpleasant views. The sort of people you describe are not the sort who were all out partying on 31st January, those people will likely never, ever see the issues when they arise or will happily listen when told by Cummings etc. that they're someone else's fault.

Nice to see this old, tired thread off the front page.

Oh.......

This thread will highlight all the Brexit benefits. You should be pleased. Now we are out, give us the good trade deals news, and an update on the necessary customs infrastructure.
building work. Thanks.

Times running out. Tick-tok

Believe it or not the return of the Duty Free Allowance was being touted as one of the benefits of Brexit a little while back, something to help our intrepid Leavers to pass the time in the immigration queues. Just so long as they don't realise that currently they can come back with almost however much they like at the moment and that it will be reduced back to the limits of the good old days, 1 litre of spirits or 6 bottles of wine... whoopie do !

They fell for the lies of this government, their associates in shadowy think tanks and their billionaire offshore mates in the print media, they are the victims of disinformation

Back in the real world of Brexit reality we can't have our cake and eat it, and of course it will all be the EU's fault.

HSBC has said it will axe around 35,000 jobs world wide with the majority going in the U.K. Where it currently employs around 40,000 after it announced profits for 2019 fell by 33%.

BBC radio 4 just said that HSBC may move its head office completely out of the U.K. And relocate to Hong Kong as the bank is reshaping towards a becoming an exclusively investment bank in line with the USA model

where have HSBC said most would be in the UK? no report i read mentioned this. the Radio 4 report if correct would suggest de-merging and selling off the retail bank in the UK, which would shed that sort of number (though doubtful jobs would actually go, transfered to new bank). meanwhile, City Am and Reuters report cutting its US retail arm and European investment banking, and maintaining the UK investment banking. they like to say they'll relocate HQ to Hong Kong every few years.

Radio 4 news their financial reporter said as part of an interview with the anchor presenter on the today programme where he said he expected that most jobs would be lost in the uk

Job losses worldwide.

Good time to go it alone!

Any news on any trade deals? Particularly those that will be in place the day after we leave etc
Any news on the much larger customs infrastructure we are going to need, somebody told me it hasnt started yet. Cant be right can it?
Whats the latest on the US trade deal? Ive heard we have been moved to the back of the queue?/

This thread is a brilliant chance for leave supporters to show us how much better the countries future will be. Go for it!

First country ever to impose trade sanctions on itself

I can only imagine the new customs infrastructure at Dover will be in the advanced stages of beta testing now
