Consistency comes at a price we can't afford.

You wouldn't complain if your cheap runabout doesnt perform like a brand new Mercedes.

Solly is just a pimped up Corsa, not an expensive German import.

interesting analogy, since its the German import thats draging the teams performances down the most.

I’ve come to the conclusion that for certain people with certain players, you see what you want to see.

And they seem to want their target to have an awful match. Turning to their mates, with glee “There you go, .....”.

Many of us have sat by folk audibly relieved when Stephens, March or Muzza make a misjudgment. Probably the same ‘supporters’ who held vendettas against Hemed, Barnes, Baldock and Lopez.

Weird.

Maybe he’s not good enough at this level but the way he tore up the Chanpionship will always be my abiding memory. He used to take the pee out of defenders at time, what a player! And not exactly a poor standard!

Personally speaking, I think we have a lot of players who are “ bring on” players.

Schlotto, March, Murray, bissouma, Bernardo, trossard, colloney

Guaranteed starters IMHO should be .

Ryan ..
Montoya, dunk, Webster, burn
Ali j, Stephens, propper, gross, Mooy
Maupay

I am a potter fan, but not a modern football fan, so the only real enjoyment I get from our football these days is the time when we have a go, instead of the pass across the back bollox and then bang it up front in to the heads of large centre backs ( as we did against villa time and time again). Play and repeat, play and repeat....

I do think we are struggling with consistency in team selection and that can be down to injuries and suspensions, but there is a hell of a lot of chop and changing of the side and I can see how the team struggles with consistency

For my three penny worth, I think the lack of signing a striker, not necessarily a big name( the other guy at Brentford seems a very good player ) will be our downfall this year as for all our pretty football ( to state the bleeding obvious) we haven’t got anyone with the guile to score a bag of goals. We are relying on set pieces this season as well as three teams who are worse than us. I am not sure going up in 1 points a time will be enough.

What a twattish thread. Pathetic even. Solly (in his first start for months following a bad injury) played OK and was far far away from being in our worst group of players on Saturday.

Soccerball is all about opinions.

My 50ps worth is that Solly's best performances in the PL have been as an 'impact' sub.

Still frustrates me with the reluctance to take hapless defence men on constantly and whip in a decent cross.

We are currently a team of impact subs!

Yep, agree. Also likely to be the same people who don't notice how diminished Propper is and how lightweight our midfield was without Stephens playing.

Did March have his best game? No. Was he worse than Mooy (made literally the wrong decision every time he had the ball in a decent spot), Trossard (failed to deliver a single cross), Gross (see Mooy and Trossard). Also Schelotto, Propper etc. But I think you also have to take into account that once Watford scored (and even before, if we're honest), they sat 11 men behind the ball which made creating chances even harder.

From a provider perspective, only Jahanbakhsh provided any real threat so to single out March indicates more of an agenda than a balanced view.

I thought it was interesting because some Corsas are built in Germany, so therefore imported... :moo:

Ain’t it just so...still Webster wasn’t playing ..nor Stephens........etc etc
This. No Montoya either and Ryan had no chance with their goal...

Forget Mooy, Duffy and Murray (amongst others) all having relatively off days too.

Solly was obviously next in line. We need a proper SCAPEGOAT...!!!

I said this on a previous thread a while ago, but we must have almost an entire team of scapegoats. Since we've been in the Prem it's been at various times:

Ryan (too small),
Bong (because he's Bong),
Duffy (not a good passer),
Bruno (too old),
Webster (makes too many mistakes),
Montoya (not sound enough defensively),
Stephens (because he's Stephens),
Propper (doesn't play like he does for the Dutch),
Bissouma (too inconsistent),
March (too inconsistent),
Gross (too inconsistent and slow),
Mooy (sending off at Villa),
Jahanbakhsh (rubbish for 18 months),
Murray (too slow),
Hemed (too slow),
Andone (too mental),
Locadia (too focused on his music),
Maupay (too inconsistent) etc etc etc

It's almost like people would rather moan and moan and moan and moan about players, rather than get behind them... The only one who has been immune is Dunk.

Dunk seems to be the only one who gets a pass, showing people just pick and choose.

But you’re not surprised, are you? Duffy has received a lot of criticism too, first start in ages and fresh from the operating table. I’ll admit I wanted him back in the team and he looked all at sea at times, but he’ll be hard done by if he gets dropped after 1 start. People have their favourites, and their agendas, and nothing will make people change their minds.

Harsh, thought he was ok and one of our better players (admittedly not that that says a lot) and like Alzate has been, was moved around positions mid game which is never easy and he coped well.

Murray visibly showing his annoyance with him twice really pissed me off. It’s not like his own performance justified that response.

Murray visibly seems pissed off at all of our players most of the time. For a senior pro, it comes across really poorly but you never seen him get criticised for it. It’s funny that people are using his criticism of March as a reason to batter SM, despite Murray having a much worse game on Saturday.

To be fair, Duffy’s not really had a good game all season. He was deservedly POTY last season, but he’s looked all at season in almost every game in this new system. And it’s no surprise - he just doesn’t have the attributes to play in it, and that was shown consistently on Saturday. And that’s without even discussing the tactical implications of having him in the side, which again were evident regularly at the weekend.

He did however play the start and play the whole game the last team we kept a clean sheet.

pretty fair, apart from Dunk and Ryan everyone else has inconsistent performances, several are too slow for the high press, high tempo style attempted this season.
