[Albion] Will we be signing a DECENT striker on loan or permanent before the window closes?

Will we be signing a decent new striker by the time the window closes?

Yes there’s no question our style is vastly improved this season.

Potter has proved himself to be a very interesting, forward thinking coach. I support him even if we go down.

I think our struggles are mainly related to not taking our chances and lacking real quality in the final third.

Are we that much better at anything other than passing the ball around from Ryan to the centre circle. Our defending is much worse our number of shots ON TARGET has not improved although we are having more 'wild'shots. We are not taking on and attacking the full backs as we did with March and Knockaert so I would say generally our play is no better and we as a team are no better. The results also emphasis that.

If we stay up, it will be very interesting to see if the club upgrade on many of Hughton/Winstanley’s players. Potter and Ashworth would’ve had over a year to assess them.

Gross, Propper, Stephens, Montoya for various reasons might be under threat.

We need pace, and goals from midfield.

True. A lot of us including me are bad losers, especially when we are dropping towards the relegation places, whilst other clubs win and sign players. We do all want the same thing, staying up and winning games of football.

I have the feelings. I avoided NSC after Bmuff for a good week as I’d just get annoyed and even more annoyed with over reactions. It’s tough but it’s cos we care. Regroup and take the positives like my post did. That in my opinion, is the way to go...

If you believe that the Albion will ever win every week in the Premier League then you are deluded. Only a handful of clubs ever reach that level and we realistically will never be one of them.

I can enjoy watching a good game and be disappointed we haven't won, yet appreciate how well we've played in the toughest league in the world. I remember drawing 0-0 at Withdean against Rushden and Diamonds so I can accept the odd bad result.

Nah sorry.

I rather we won 1-0 in a scrappy shitty game than lose a 4-3 in a thriller. I never come away thinking, we lost, but never mind it was a good game.

According to the stats on here https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/ontarget_scoring_att?se=210 we had 108 shots on target in the whole of last season, 119 the season before. 102 so far this season. A considerable increase.

This, forever.

I actually prefer Potter to Hughton going forward, willing him to succeed, so this is not an anti Potter view.

Winning is EVERYTHING. One of the happiest feelings is leaving the Amex after a home win. Entertainment is secondary.

Nah, sorry, I want to see good football, we can't win them all. Early in thenseason I went home chin up feeling positive having lost at home to Stains. There was far more reason for hope than despair.

Things are a tad tighter this month, but I remain positive

Just my opinion as like most I was thrilled at the start of the season and thought good things were on the horizon but unfortunately IMHO that was a false dawn. Since about early November except for odd games we have shown that we are unable to compete with the teams in the Premier. It seems that every manager has out thought GP and countered his tactical moves and sadly I envisage a hard time ahead due to this with probable relegation as the cost. I believe that more and more people are becoming disillusioned as to GP being the Messiah as was expected early season.

I believe that as a team we are not as good or efficient as we were under CH.

obviously fine lines, but under hughts we would be below norwich so a vast improvement with potter.

the "sea change" between playing 9 defenders to 3/4/5 will necessarily take more than 24 games

No we wont we will pass the ball about without conviction and eventually lose it and probably the game. We have to start with a team selected to do a job

thank christ you have never been the decision maker in a football team

It could be that the less than 8.5% who kept the faith will be proved right, fingers crossed eh?

It was always unthinkable that we wouldn't sign a striker - although, granted, we haven't yet.

But my mood has lifted immensely with just a solid rumour of such a signing.

Ashworth is the problem IMO.

WBA were steady but unspectacular, not saying we’ll even reach steady, but since February 2019 there has been little improvement particularly in quality of signings.

Whilst England performed at junior level, the senior team benefited from a favourable draw and arguably underachieved.

The best thing is Connolly and Alzate’s inclusions in the first team and that is down to Potter.

I probably just don’t understand his role enough, as everything else in terms of infrastructure was already in place.

You simply cannot definitively say that, we might have also been mid table, but that is probably inaccurate as well.

Salamon Kalou on his way to West H'aaaa'm after Villa failed in a last ditch bid for him. Another who would have been an excellent signing for us but where wage demands probably dictated he weas always likely to go elsewhere

I hear you, but he hasn’t been with the club long enough imho to have an impact.

I think CH and GP have both been hamstrung by a lack of pace in the team, the striker situation, and other weaknesses eg RB.
