Well, well the Murdoch press are report Boris will get a trade deal with Japan before end of 2020, dubbed EU++

Just one slight issue, The EU-Japan FTA (the world's largest) has a provision that forbids Japan to strike better trade deals with third countries.

More fantasy, we better get used to it I guess

So the UK can strike an EQUAL deal .... who would have thought

I'm not sure I'd call an 8 hour contract zero hours but I get where you're coming from.

It just annoys me that people automatically equate zero hours to something bad. I worked hotels and bars in my student years - earned what felt like a lot of money - and those zero hours jobs worked brilliantly for me ( although the phrase hadn't really been invented then ). Indeed, my step daughter has just started a zero hours job at The Witchez restaurant in Brighton and it suits her down to the ground.

I wonder if all those on here so against zero hour contracts buy food and drink at the Amex ? If they do then they are supporting zero hour contracts as about 90% of the serving staff are on them ( as are the most the stewards ).

Fine, too, for students and others who are happy to work part time and are flexible about their working hours and for specialist contractors, but low wage zero hours contracts are grim substitutes for a job with guaranteed hours if you are trying to pay your bills month after month and/or raise a family. It is immoral for companies and their owners/senior managers to make large profits from the labour of their low paid zero hours workers, relying on the welfare system to make their business model sustainable and often reluctant to pay an appropriate level of tax to support the welfare system which underwrites their 'business model'.

So there is an employment model that suits some but not others - so what ? There are investment plans that suit some and not others. There are bank accounts that suit some but not others. There are house 'ownership' models that suit some but not others. There are options to purchase a season ticket that suit some but not others. The point is taking what suits you .... not complaining about what doesn't.

Please will you define what you mean by 'reasonable' Remain voters 'came to terms' with the Referendum result? I think you have used the phrase before, but it's a bit vague.

The ones who haven't spent a significant proportion of the last three + years having a hissy fit unable to move on with their lives.. in other words, the vast majority of Remain voters.

Agree firms should be forced to guarantee hours if they are ongoing infinitum and not exploit like they do.

I notice that not one Brexit supporter has any views whatsoever on the North Sea Border processes released and posted on here 8 hours ago. I would have thought that maybe one would be able to justify the reasons it appears to be the exact opposite to what Johnson has stated throughout. I'm a little surprised that NSC's most ardent unionist [MENTION=33253]JC Footy Genius[/MENTION] appears to have no views on it whatsoever.

Maybe 'ignoring it altogether' is the new 'need to think positive'
