[Albion] Albion's worst signing of the decade

Kemy, Ryan Harley & Elvis are my top 3.

Lots of players that weren't great (O'Grady, Colunga), some that were just unlucky (Hoskins could have been brilliant if he wasn't made of polystyrene) but their commitment couldn't be questioned.

Our loans have been far worse - Barn Door Billy, Leon Best, ****ing AKPOM

Good call re Akpom, a player who really didn’t give a shit and it was SO obvious too

A few off the top of my head which have been pretty woeful :

Chris O'Grady
Adam Chicksen

Adrian Colunga
Kemy Agustien
Stephen Dobbie
Will Hoskins
Roland Bergkamp
Fran Sandaza
Liam Dickinson

and worst for value currently has to be Locadia

Harsh!

It certainly wasn't CMS. He scored plenty for us, some quality finishes as well, not just the overhead.

Not his fault he wasn't as good as Murray and not his fault he did his cruciate

Dobbie or Kemy for me

Aside from the obvious, and taking any fees or loan fees out of the equation, I'd add:

Barn Door Billy
Jara Reyes

Akpom, Reyes... loan players. Hardly 'worst signing'.

Not a permanent signing, admittedly.

Jara was a decent signing at the time, just absolutely batshit insane but how Akpom could even put 'footballer' on his CV is one for only the top scientists to get their head around.

No commitment to us, but busy scoring goals and winning trophies with PAOK.

Cms = most disappointing given the expectation.
I watched him at Peterborough and he was a different player

I always thought CMS was set up to fail with us. That's not a pop at anyone, just that our styles of play was so different to Peterborough's that it was going to be hard to replicate his form. The season he scored those goals for Peterborough, they played a fast counter attacking game, where he sat on the shoulder of the defenders and waited for balls to chase. They played on one of the smallest pitches in the league which meant they could quickly get the ball from defence to attack and he was perfectly suited to that. Then he joined us, with one of the biggest pitches in the league while we played patient possession football. We needed a powerful striker to hold the ball up not someone who needed ball's over the top to chase.

I've just discovered that Tommy Fraser was the grandson of Richardson Gang enforcer Mad Frankie Fraser. I had no idea.

According to The Sun when Tommy was asked by a local Brighton-based journalist if his granddad ever attended his games, Fraser replied: "No, but he reads your reports and he was unhappy you only gave me six out of 10 last week." It was said that Fraser was never rated less than 7/10 by the local paper again.

Tommy Fraser's Dad was also on the Albion books in the early 70's. Don't think he made any first team appearances. Eventually drifted off into non league.

Has to be Kemy. I don't care that we didn't pay an actual transfer fee for him; we'd have still paid a signing fee and circa 10-15K a week for him for a couple of seasons of doing **** all.

The Championship was a struggle for CMS. He didn’t score bucketloads of goals in his Posh championship season. Limited ability, but a pro who made the most of his career.
