Thought Burn was fantastic last night, so that's it, he's a gonner!
Think we might actually start playing with "rush goalie" soon. Last two games I have seen Ryan further up the pitch and pass backwards to one of his defenders, madness I tell you, madness... You won't see that in the coaching manuals (well, not the traditional ones anyway).

So, it would appear that they have a few traits which are similar to ours; a ball retention / passing style, the use of a high press at times, and using the wing backs to good advantage.
What's interesting from a Brighton line-up perspective is the way they press the opposition defence in numbers, which will come up against our desire to provoke a press and pass through it. This I feel will be a decisive part of the game. Are they good enough to stop us passing the way we have been, reducing the space for the midfield to work in? Are we adept enough to use this to our numerical advantage. It will depend on how GP thinks this will develop as to how he sets up the defence; for example, if he feels the press will challenge our passing at the back, would he risk changing the personnel who have shown they can do it?
Alternatively, they work similarly to us in midfeld, with 3 industrious players, who can also pass well, which tends to make space out wide for their wing backs to overlap. We will need to negate this, either in the middle and deny them the ball, or cover the runs of the wing-backs.
Once again, GP will know who he trusts to perform the roles required for the particular threat.
Either way, it could be a very interesting match.

I have to admit, as someone who is a bit of a Propper-downer at times, that I thought that Davy Propper played the Stephens role to absolute perfection last night, even going as far as throwing in a few niggly unnecessary fouls. I might even go as far as saying that that was the best Dale Stephens performance of the season, especially impressive in that it was played by someone who isn't called Dale Stephens.
Meanwhile Bissouma did a very good impression of Davy Propper in the more advanced midfield role, recycling possession quickly and accurately, hardly ever losing it in the tackle, but with the added bonus of some very un-Davy-like charges through midfield and stinging shots from distance. Considering how little game time he has had this season and his undoubted youth, there is a lot lot more to come there (Before last night I really thought that Bissouma was a Hughton pet-project and wouldn't do much under Potter, but my eyes have been opened)
So although I am sure Dale will be back next weekend, there is food for thought there looking forward - a Propper-Bissouma midfield pair??

Pascal Gross is looking after it, you'll have to ask him nicely. Before handing it over he may remind you that he has assisted 14 of Brighton's 24 goals this season.

Gives Davy Pröpper a nice rest and allows Bissouma to deservedly keep the shirt. Webster is the fall guy for not being brave enough/having the defensive instinct to get in front of Zaha's shot (Duffy or Dunk would have been two yards closer and blocked the shot away), and frankly, I think that's fairly typical of his casual approach to defending.
Jahanbakhsh, obviously, to start and then Trossard to be waiting in the wings. He's a quality player but I think Sheffield United is a different bloke and needs a different type of stroke. Gross has a wonderful shot from range, that we're not really seeing, so let's get him in the areas to really hurt them. Bernardo for Burn on the grounds he's a better player.
