Ashley Barnes isn't nearly good enough for us.

Article about him in latest 442 mag - he says nice things about our club. Didn’t realise he is one of just half a dozen players to have scored against all of the big 6.

He is still quite fond of us. There was an interview on the club site, where he says his eldest son is a Brighton fan.

What’s the goals per game average?

Funny you should ask, I worked this out just yesterday, with Bobby thrown in for good measure:

Bobby Zamora 47 premier league goals in 252 games, 31 championship goals in 112 games
Ashley Barnes 37 premier league goals in 147 games, 29 championship goals in 150 games
Glenn Murray 36 premier league goals in 132 games, 67 championship goals in 142 games

Basically, in terms of goals per game in the premier league or premier+championship combined, its Murray > Barnes > Zamora

who'd have thunk it

So Murray a goal every 2.6 games
Barnes a goal ever 4.5
Zamora a goal every 4.6

The Zamora bit is surprising, but then he had a rough time at Tottenham, combined with some injuries with West Ham and played for a shit QPR side.

Murray has obviously had injury troubles over the years, notably that season at Palace.

Barnes by and large has been injury free, but has missed a few games due to stupid red cards...

But then Barnes played 99 games mainly on the wing for us in the championship, at least the other two were always strikers. He also played 20 games for Plymouth in the championship, never realised that

Ok, going for the let’s re write history tac - Pretending Barnes never played on the wing so much - Barnes average at Burnley is 4.48 goals per game, so no different to playing all those games on the wing for The Albion then!

oh, thats interesting. Yeah, he didn't score many for them in the champ, its the last couple of years he's really come on. Maybe they played him on the wing too, I dunno?
