a galaxy far far away
I know we've had a separate thread on Gross, but IMHO it would be madness to leave him out given the contributions he is making. So, he remains on my 'certain' list together with Ryan, Dunk, Webster, Stephens and Burn.

Gross has been terrific, but would you bet your house that he won't be dropped for Mooy or Trossard at the weekend? (whereas you might bet your house that Ryan won't be dropped for Button)

I'm happy with my existing roof, but I would wager a small sum he'll be running out behind One Of Our Own come 255 Saturday.

I would do everything to get both on the pitch at the same time
You wouldn't have thought that needs explaining, and yet...

Many of our supporters would rather drop one to accomodate the other

So would our manager

OK that MAY not be true as clearly Trossard has been injured, so that would not fall under the original question, "who is a certain pick when fit?" Surprising to me though that Trossard has been reintroduced so conservatively, and it's far from clear who out of our forward players he sees as the one who would make way, or whether he does genuinely see Trossard as a supersub

This season I think Connolly will see a lot more bench time than Gross when Trossard is ready to start games. Of course Potter believes in Connolly but this thing with two central forwards starting is not going to be something we see very often. Generally we will be playing with two wingers (like Trossard & Gross) and one central forward (being Maupay, since he is a better player than Connolly), trust me on that one - the 4-4-2-ish thing we're doing now is because Potter dont feel that Ali J etc are good enough. He loves the 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 and it will be the standards with the occasional 3-5-2 or 4-4-2.

Do we know for sure that the injury is the reason he didn't start against Norwich, or is it your opinion that it is the only plausible explanation?

Injury I dont know, but not 100% match fit perhaps. And yes its the only plausible explanation, he is that good.

He even put his arm round him when discussing tactics prior to subbing him on during the Spurs win, so he must be a favourite.

The last employee that I put my arm around I told him that it was time for him to retire. It doesn't always mean good things are happening.

You should be in football management, you really should.

Or he knows just how good Trossard is - knows just how critical he is to us having a successful season - and thus is determined to ease him back in gently, so as to avert the risk of him breaking down again

I was mocked for daring to suggest the Potty looked at the weather forecast and thought 'you know what it's just not worth it'.

A thought potentially validated when the 100% fit, £20m defender, was stretched off.

Me.

Problem is I've never been fit enough, so they haven't wasted a contract on me. But god help the other 19 if I ever get fit...
