It doesn't seem to matter to me how he plays, I always remember his performance v Chelsea where he tore them apart and should have had two penalties.

I was at the cup tie two seasons ago at Old Trafford when we lost 2-0, but my Manure supporting daughter-in-law said we played by far the better football, and mr Schelotto was particularly impressive that day. We need to give him a chance.

I sodding love him. He’s the PL Peter Smith with the mad conquistador look of yore, he’s the one, you know who’s worth the entrance fee alone... at once catastrophic and diabolic yet (there’s a small chance) he could do something utterly stupendous, one of those players who makes the whole crowd hush with a communal intake of breath - he’s a pinball wizard playing football and you just never know ! He’s a half full manager’s player, never going to work with a pragmatic professor of percentage like Chris, but likely to be the court jester of a king who likes a laugh when signing another PL managers death warrant.

Oh Marco, to the gibbet you go for the sport of the carrion crows.

Lovely stuff. The PL Peter Smith indeed.:clap2::clap2:

I think we might see the best of him under this system. Whether his best is good enough remains to be seen but I thought he looked fantastic at times in his first season so who knows.

Certainly nice to see his enthusiasm. Certainly not worth the wages we are paying him whatever they may be. Maybe if I could forget his Selhurst panic attack I could be more forgiving. Right Back needed in January.

So Schellotto got time on the pitch even though he'd barely featured on the bench. It says to me, Potter isn't that happy with Montoya and is looking for an alternative. I'll guess we'll be in for a RB in Jan as well

I'd like to think Romaric Yapi would get a chance at rightback, rather than rushing out to buy another one in January.

IMO he should only be considered when we're playing with two wing backs, he's not defensively good enough to play in a 4

Having said that I love his enthusiasm and it was good to see him back on the pitch on Saturday.

And yes, Montaya had a mare.

I agree and I feel the same way about Burn. If we are going to play four at the back then we need to play fullbacks and I don't think Burn or the greyhound fit the bill. However, going five at the back I think they are ideal wingbacks and carry a real threat. I love Schelotto and hope I get to see much more of him.

So do I and I admired him for being pretty well the only defender who thought “ “**** it I’m going to go on an attacking run over the halfway line” under CH

It's certainly not my style, but I've got to agree with that.

Posters have been very negative towards Montoya, for a while, and I've always said they're a little odd.
I can't do that after today.

I do loves El Greyhoundo, he makes me smile and that's why I go to football.

Every PL squad needs a Laurence Tolhurst, possibly.
The Musketeer is ours.

As others have said, in the game against Chelsea he was incredible. With VAR we would have had 2 penalties and possibly a win.
That was Hughton's first experiment with 5 at the back and it was one of the most exhilarating performances of his tenure.
Defensively..... not great though

I think Potter knows he has a player that he can make use of when the time is right.
Expect to see much more of the greyhound, but it may be restricted to certain opponents that could be susceptible to his menacing runs.

I prefer Montoya who takes up some very good positions on the right wing and if he could deliver a dangerous cross he would be a certain starter for a long time

I think that is the main issue though, his contributions in the final 1/3rd are at times simply not adding the dynamics to the team that Potter is asking for. Burn at left back has been a revelation in that regard, happily exchanging quick passes, comfortable in possession and willing to run passed players. I'm just not seeing those contributions from Montoya. I therefore agree with you, his place at present is under threat unless he does improve his final third play.

gotta love the guy, but would be staggered if we don't attempt to get a right back in during the jan window

Can see us going back for the young derby full back

Will he start Saturday?

What we know; Potter isn't throwing players into the first team unless he thinks they're good enough and can contribute. Putting him on at 65mins was a huge endorsement from the manager that he has been seeing things he likes in training.

It's a big call, and personally would be excited to see him in the XI come 2pm.

Agree that we'll likely have a crack at Bogle again (though I hear that Derby have recently managed to reduce their wage bill so maybe won't sell!)

As we're looking to be a top 10 team, and I believe that's the genuine aim, Montoya or Schellotto would have to show more than they have done so far to stay in the side.
