I'm a bit rusty, so remind me: what will VAR check?

"Clear and obvious errors" or "serious missed incidents" in four match-changing situations:

Goals
Penalties
Direct red cards
Mistaken identity

VAR will automatically check these situations, often in the background while play is resuming. The final decision will be with the on-field referee, however.

There are no exceptions to these four areas; you won't see any checks for corners, throw-ins, yellow cards or even second yellow cards. If the incident doesn't fall under those four points, it will not be reviewed.

Only four things can be reviewed: a goal, a penalty, a red card, or mistaken identities.

Offsides cannot be reviewed. They can be a reason that a goal or penalty is overturned because a review shows a player was offside, but if the on-field decision is an offside, it can't be reviewed by VAR.

The rules were changed during a meeting with all members of the premier league

I saw on SSN (or sky sports twitter) late this week that there is a Palace/Norwich curse. Anytime they are both in the premier league, one or both get relegated. Of course, these curses always end eventually. But, hopefully not this year...

It’s not exactly a curse, just two similar teams who have in recent years managed to yo-yo between the top two leagues, never quite good enough to stay up for any length of time, but marginally better than most teams in the championship. It’s hardly surprising that either one, or both, of the worst teams went down with monotonous regularity.

I’d suggest that curse or not, Norwich are more likely to go down than Palace this season. Notwithstanding that, I expect them to survive.

Gary Neville is doing my nut in. He has been so biased tonight. I know he is critical of United but he has just let himself down over that Lingard tackle.

During ManUre matches he’s unbelievably biased.

His criticism of ManUre comes after the alleged “world’s biggest football club” fail to get their entitled win. Which is very often in recent years.

I've never watched an Man U Arsenal game with less quality. Error strewn. Two poor defences. Pogba annonymous. Pepe quite dreadful.

When do we play them? :ascarf:

Immediately after the last game in a long losing run/long run with no goals/long run with no clean sheets. As we usually do.

As Solskjaer headed towards the tunnel there was booing from that home corner, followed by a very half-hearted “Ole, Ole, Ole ....”.

Seems a decent bloke, doing his best, I felt a bit sorry for him. But is the job too big for him?
