i struggle why the BBC need to maintain impartiality so fantically about a foreign figure. and why then allow the Breakfast presenters to discuss a subject openly?

And yet on another thread, there is a complaint that the last 3 cities that the BBC have visited re the B word have all been heavy leave cities.

So they must be doing something right.

Interesting. They went to Portsmouth, which was 60% leave. They interviewed 3 people, 2 remainers and one leaver. Pathetic.

Maybe that just illustrates the shift in opinion from Leave to Remain and underlines the need for a confirmatory People’s Vote?

This decision by the BBC has been slightly better explained this morning. The fact that she called the tweets racist is not the issue, it is that she went on to speculate as to what Trump's motives were for using that language, which is against the BBC's editorial guidelines.

Was she right in having a real meltdown in having a go at Donald Trump?
Meltdown? She didn't have a meltdown, she just said that she's experienced people telling her to 'go home' and people know it's from a place of racism. I'm not sure what there is to argue with.

Nope, she was in the wrong. She is mean't to be impartial but Dan Walker tucked her up asking her the question in the first place

In the BBC weeks spent camped in Bradford, Stoke, Birmingham, Blackpool, et seq, they seemed to meet endless Brexiteers, surprisingly to me, including young folk. Also many Asian background Brits who felt the same, I gather this stems from their long term soreness about EU citizens having freedom of movement, in contrast to their relatives from the Indian subcontinent.

Still a split country.

West is BEST
Trump chooses quite deliberately to disregard all moral and professional boundaries and therefore forfeits any right to be treated fairly on any platform.
