Have to say I was amazed when 10 of the 18 players in the squad I hadn't heard of before, and 2 more that I have only very recently heard of, and I think I follow Brighton pretty closely

Hardly much surprise we lost then when they've got Grealish and McGinn in their team.

Will be interesting to see how many of these guys are pushing in/around the first team this time next/year.

I was also impressed with Yapi, when he came on as a sub.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

I wasn't expecting too much, once the team was announced, but was looking forward to seeing Baluta and Taylor Richards play live.

Left the match disappointed with both, but optimistic they will improve.

Richards looked a bit lazy, and Baluta repeatedly got caught ball watching. Fingers crossed these issues will be ironed out and both reach the heights of their potential.

If Villa screw up and get relegated, would love us to make a bid for John Mcginn. Great player.

I think Potter's hand was forced by the injury sitaution and the "close" ones weren't risked with the weekend in mind. It's all good experience for the young players but still disappointing to lose any game.

Thank goodness NSC is fixed again!

Glad never paid when saw the side he put out.

I put £50 on villa at 6/5 as soon as I saw the team. Was never going to win it with so many changes. Good experience for the youngsters though.

I’m sure the club is grateful to the fans who paid £15 to be extras in last night’s training match, in particular those who acted as if the result mattered. Some definitely fell for it!! I’m sure we’ll see a home win soon...

How did Taylor Richards do?

Showed glimpses of real talent. And more than a few glimpses of not being all that BOTHERED.

Was anyone else a bit disappointed with the performance of Baluta? Thought he was rather anonymous for the whole period of the game.

Considering he is supposed to be a fringe first team player, and is 3 or 4 years older than most of the debutants, he was comfortably the most disappointing performer on the night. An awful lot more to come, you would hope.

Personally I didn't think it was fair on the youngsters dumping them in the deep end all at once in a team without a backbone of experienced pros. On numerous occasions you could see them freeze not knowing what to do while Trezeguet or Hourihane (experienced internationals) nicked the ball. I can't imagine Bong or Duffy are feeling too happy today either.

I didn't go, but saw a lot of negativity about the lineup on Twatter and Facebook – especially the lack of fringe first team players used.

But could it be that the team was made up almost entirely of youngsters because are possibly used to playing together as a team so would therefore likely be on the same wavelength as each other? I could be talking rubbish, but there is also the fact that giving these players experience of playing against a PL team would have helped their development for the future if/when they make the first team squad?

Many of us paid just a tenner.
